@othram , where you building this lady's tree I thought I read that somewhere ? I have information as in a photograph, name and date of birth but I've tried everything to track down relatives and not getting anywhere.

@Laura Avery Hi! Did you hear back? Curious to see if any progress has been made on finding her family.

Nope, not a sausage. Have no gone down the dnaproject route. I was sure I saw someone was building a tree, as I know I have her dna on record somewhere. Interesting she says one of her names was Joynez Johnson, in one of the homeless shelters she has down as an address china Jones lived with a Joynea Johnson. She also did live in grand rapids.

Looks like a tip got called in. But where did she go!?!

Kathryn Bene Griffin was 43 years old when she went missing from Portsmouth, Virginia, on January 7, 2012.

She was last seen by a family member at the barbershop she worked. Police said she left work on a brown bicycle and was wearing blue jeans, a plaid jacket and a black smock.

Her missing forum: VA - VA - Kathryn Bene Griffin, 43, Portsmouth, 7 Jan 2012

I'm confused! Wouldn't DNA Doe Project have the DNA for China Black if they are working her case? And she also has exclusions. The article mentions that they were trying to track her down to compare to Kathryn Griffin? I can't tell if this is a theory or confirmed to be KG?

So they lost her? She was living in a care home! She doesn't have legs!

Portsmouth police said they have been unable to locate Black, but believe she is still in the Detroit area. Detective Holley said that she is no longer at the facility and there isn’t much documentation of where she went next.

Michigan State Police did take DNA when they were initially working to find China Black’s true identity. Holley said that China Black was on medication that may have given the DNA issues and they have not be able to use it.

Police plan to take a new sample of her DNA to compare it with a sample of Griffin’s mother’s DNA to determine if they are in fact the same person

I am completely confused by that entire article. I literally have no idea what's going on.

Seriously -- They had her DNA and have compared it before but suddenly can't use the profile now because of medication she was on?

She's medically vulnerable as a double amputee and with amnesia surely is supposed to have regular medical appointments and obviously receives benefits, but somehow they just don't know where she went?

So maybe she's being taken advantage of, someone stealing her benefits. She could be being abused or neglected. But as far as her well-being, ah well, they lost track of her.

I hope that article is just one huge error, because if not, this is inexcusable.

I’m really upset that they lost her. Was she not under the care of the state? She is the definition of a vulnerable person.

When was the last time she was in their care? If she ends up deceased and the family missed their chance at reunification I truly hope there are consequences. To have something like this happen in 2025…it’s just shocking.

Now I’m really curious just how much care was actually given here exactly.

What is the care home saying? I think they need to put out a statement explaining themselves.
