I'm wondering, since it sounds like the crime took place inside her home, if this is a DV incident and not related to her activism, politics, or religion.

I am practically certain. Hate crimes and terrorism happen in the open to make a statement.

"No evidence has surfaced suggesting that this crime was motivated by antisemitism," Detroit Police Chief James White said in a statement Sunday afternoon. White had previously urged the public not to jump to conclusions about what happened.

Woll had been stabbed multiple times, according to police. She was found outside of her home Saturday morning in the 1300 block of Joliet Place, just east of downtown. A trail of blood led to her home, where police said they believe the crime occurred.

Police did not say if any suspects have been identified.

But in this instance, she was found outside her home. Did she go out by herself or was she dragged outside?

I am thinking she was attempting to get help and succumbed to her injuries. If someone left her while still alive, but barely, she might have not been able to find or use her phone so had to get someone in person to help?

Or she was escaping violence indoors and the final blow was outdoors?

idk

Samantha had a lot of contacts and knew and was known to many people. I'm guessing it's taking DPD some time to interview everyone and go through her electronics.

I'm hopeful that the neighborhood she lived in is filled with security cameras and Ring doorbells. What type of entrance did her building have? Was there a keypad or a code needed?

We haven’t heard anything about her having a boyfriend or partner either. It could have been a DV incident, but, in my opinion, it could have just as easily been a hate crime. I’m not so sure it needs to happen out in the open to make a statement—clearly many people are assuming this was a hate crime, which shows it worked if that was the intended effect.

I think that they just don’t know who did it, and they can’t figure out motive until they do.

It doesn’t seem certain to me that the stabbing took place inside her home. The report said the trail of blood led to her home, where they believe the crime occurred. Could it be that someone was waiting outside her townhome and ambushed her as she came home and she was then able to stagger down the sidewalk to a more common area where she was later discovered?

Edited to add: I hope we learn more today.

That also makes sense.

We don't have much to go on, which makes me think LE does.

The first report makes it sound like she was murdered inside the home. Investigators said there was no sign of forced entry and that a large Israeli flag inside the home was undisturbed, making them think the killing was not motivated by antisemitism.

According to the Detroit Police Department's Twitter and Facebook pages, there is supposed to be a press conference at 2:15 pm today. The press conference will be livestreamed on their Facebook page and a link will be provided on their Twitter page. It's 2:20 Detroit time now so maybe they're running late?

Edited to say: I just watched the press conference. They reiterated that they do not believe the motive is antisemitism. They have another working theory on motive. They don't believe anyone else is at risk/in danger. They have several people of interest that they're talking to. Sounds like they are close to considering someone a suspect. She was assaulted inside the home and staggered outside. She was at a wedding and arrived home (or maybe left the wedding?) at 12:30 am. They're confident she was lying outside quite a while before she was found. They're checking ring doorbells. They're reviewing street cameras to see if she was being followed.

I thought that too. I went back and re-watched that part. The question asked was if she had those things on her and the answer seems to be that yes, they were "on the scene." So not clear to me if they were actually on or near her person or were in the residence
