Patience is called for in this case. It's not cold or forgotten by any means whatsoever.

Police arrested the person in the Kalamazoo area on the west side of the state. It is unknown whether the person arrested is a resident of that area.

The identity of the person in custody was not yet made public. That information will become public once the person is formally arraigned on any charges brought against them. It was unknown when an arraignment may occur.

Police did not say what charges the person was facing. It’s not clear what role they allegedly played in the fatal stabbing.

Police Chief White said the investigation is still open, and that investigators are going to “go where the evidence takes us.”

Yes. And maybe they haven't arraigned and charged them because they are still searching for the others involved?

I thought so too...ever remember this happening before? I suspect maybe the suspect is well connected or is wealthy so FEAR of being sued if they reveal his name just yet.

Could be, but I think it's going to be a more simple explanation. But hard to say with so little info.

I must admit I am curious as to why they would make an announcement before charging the suspect, it all seems odd to me.

Local news coming up at noon. Hopefully, there will be some type of update on the status of the suspect in custody.

Brief report on WDIV about the male suspect who is in custody at Wayne County jail. Concluded with mention of letting public know as soon as there is an arraignment.

Does that really stop them from naming them? They have moved them to the jurisdiction the murder was committed in.

Seems like it's been nearly 48 hours since the arrest, but I have not yet read or heard anything about an arraignment. No update on the 4:00 news on WDIV. Maybe something at 5:00, but I won't hold my breath.

Was the person arrested so that LE could get a DNA sample from him?

There are now two types of circumstances where individuals are required to provide DNA samples—upon an arrest for a felony offense ... and when the individual is convicted or found responsible for any of the misdemeanors listed in MCL 28.176(1)(b), MCL 750.520m(1)(b), and MCL 712A.18k(1)(b) or local ordinances substantially corresponding to the listed misdemeanors. Michigan Legislature - Section 28.176

The arrest announcement said the suspect knew her well & attended the same synagogue... maybe he is a community leader like she was, & they're trying to create privacy for the community to deal with the shock & upset ?
