The Harbor Beach Police Department is requesting anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shana Umbreit to Contact the Harbor Beach Police Department.

Shana is described as a 36 year old white female approximately 5’6 150 lbs. Shana was last seen in the Harbor Beach area Friday January 23, 2026 9:38 P.M. wearing an olive green jacket, white sweatshirt, blue jeans, and brown boots.

Friends and family of Shana Umbreit said they have had no contact with Shana since Friday, Jan. 23, and her phone is reportedly turned off.

I'll continue to research this case. I found some information about her. Some commenters on Facebook have noted that she doesn't have a car and was picked up by someone in the Harbor Beach area. Family members are also stating that this is not like her at all, so I would assume this is an abduction. Until other evidence proves otherwise. This is also a fairly small community, from what I was reading, and people are hoping that someone would have to know something because of how small the community is. As for the color of the car that potentially picked her up, that is uncertain. I'll continue to find any other information that I can. I hope she gets found.

Her brother's Facebook had a comment, saying she worked at Subway. Was she at work and was leaving at 9:30?

The "missing" photo is from her Facebook page. No posts since Sept of 2025. Looks like she is a mom. Also has a lot of photos with her hair as blond as @ClueFinder1031 noted. I don't know if the most recent photo is her current hair color. Log into Facebook

No public court records for her in Huron county such as recent traffic tickets, etc.

I did see a comment that said she worked at Subway. If she does work at Subway, the likely candidate is the one who is closest to Harbor Beach. Between Harbor Beach and this Subway is 4 minutes apart. She likely walked to Harbor Beach. I feel that she would have contacted someone to pick her up once she got off work. She could have been picked up by a customer, too, who asked to take her home after her shift, but that might be less possible. If that were the case, though, Subway would have camera footage of who came in and out of the restaurant.

This is not uncommon and is often done so that a well-meaning but untrained individualx searching don't accidentally destroy, contaminate, or move crucial forensic evidence (footprints, DNA, clothing, etc.) before investigators can process it. For example, if personal item(s) are found of the missing person a public searcher could contaminate the scene potentionally preventing the identification of a suspect if the missing case was related to a crime (Just a general example, not specific to this case).

This isn't the only reason such request is made, but is the most common I have seen personally as an investigator.
