GUILTY MI - Stoni Blair, 13, & Stephen Berry, 9, found in Detroit freezer, 2012 & 2013

Evidently, the mother shut others out and estranged herself from family. The children's father/s weren't allowed to see them, nor were grandmothers or other relatives. MB told neighbors that the "missing" children were staying with their aunt. Children were reportedly home-schooled so there was no accounting of their education. Mom kept them away from prying eyes. Much more to come. Stand by...

But why why then did someone not say anything.. bring in authorities. If I did not let my mom see the kids she would make sure things were okay. She would stalk me to see those kids.
There is a big big miss there.
I know people don't like it but I think home school kids should have to have mandatory check ins to make sure they are okay. Once a year, once every 3 years. Something.

Mom of kids found in freezer to be arraigned today

George Hunter, The Detroit News 6:49 a.m. EDT March 26, 2015

Detroit — A woman police say killed her two children and hid them inside a freezer is expected to be arraigned Thursday on child abuse charges.

Mitchelle Blair, 35, has been charged with four counts of first-degree child abuse, a 15-year felony; and one count of committing child abuse first-degree in the presence of another child, a felony punishable by up to life in prison, in connection with the deaths of 9-year-old Stephen Berry and 13-year-old Stoni Blair.

“The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is continuing the investigation regarding the deaths of Stoni Blair and (Stephen) Berry while waiting for the autopsy report from the Wayne County Medical Examiner,” Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller said in a release...

Never heard of this law before but I like it a lot. A child who witnesses abuse can be as traumatized as the child who is abused!

Not to mention that according to reports the Aunt is a retired Abuse investigator??

Well they have to have an idea of when they went in based on bone age and teeth and such. I just can not believe for the life of me that no one reported these kids missing. Not their siblings or family or neighbors. If my child disappeared my whole neighborhood would realize he was missing.

Siblings may have been terrified and even threatened with the same fate :(

True, I meant more of the off handing mentioning of things that kids do.. Not really reporting..

This woman is a monster.

Neighbors who were interviewed liked MB and thought she was a good mother, if not a bit over-protective of her children. They never saw evidence of abuse or thought anything was wrong.

Are you familiar with the Charlie Bothuell - Basement Boy - case? Charlie was home-schooled by his overbearing father who also had the boy on a rigid exercise regimen. Young Charlie was deprived of food and social interaction outside the home. His father and stepmother have been charged with child abuse and torture and await trial. The boy was removed from the home and now resides with his biological mother. Discussion on Currently Awaiting Trial forum. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...troit-16-June-2014&highlight=charlie+bothuell

That is why I think that Homeschoolers should have mandatory wellness check ups. Not a thorough exam but a show up and be counted meeting to make sure all these kids are safe. Because there are so many of this hideous child abusers that use homeschooling as a cover.

I am sorry a good mother does not ship off her kids for 2 years and no one sees them visit or anything.

Those poor babies.

**Warning, graphic**

Scalding water resulting in death HAD to have been a very LOUD death for this young man . No one heard?? It makes me sick to think of how very loud he had to have been.
Why ...........

I saw in interview with someone last night, I think it may have been the best friend that said they often heard loud yelling and other things going on :(

I'll see if I can find it.

You know sometimes you read that one little detail in a case and it changes everything in your mind ? That was it ^^
My grandmother was burned in her bathtub when I was about 12. I was the only one at her home in the before 911 days. It was traumatizing and I can remember vividly her yells and her running through the house seeking relief while her skin literally fell off of her arms.
You do not scald babies to death.........
God forgive me, but I hate her . :(

ETA For reference, my grandma had burns on 40% of her body IIRC, mostly upper body , torso, chest , neck and arms. She was only in the water a very short time as she jumped out and ran. Still she was in the hospital for weeks and nearly died from infection. So compare that with what little man must have gone through.

At what point is a mental illness not an ' excuse ' for your behavior ? I mean you see this and have say clearly she had a problem. That is obvious. But where is the line ?
Because there are lots of mentally ill people who do NOT do this ! There are lots of mentally ill people who raise their children without ever hurting them. There are lots of
mentally ill people who ' merely' neglect or abandon their children and do not hurt them. Yes, you would have to be ILL to do something like this but does that mean you
don't face punishment? If you're too ill to be out in the world without killing your own flesh, aren't you a huge danger to others that you're not related to ?
If no one in her family checked on her and the kids then I would guess that she may have come across as moderately stable. I don't even know what to think. Pardon the ramble.

I've got two live feed links up one for Channel 4 and the other for Channel 7, I've seen nothing go live yet. Only commercials.

I expected there would be a delay.

This is such a Sad and Crazy Case

I am sure the siblings were terrified of her, I also believe they knew what was in the freezer. What a horrible way to live.

Any guesses about the amount of MB's bail? I'm hoping she's held without bond.

Still :waiting:
