I know this is really a long shot, and I have am having trouble accepting these boys as gone, but do you think there is any chance that the police are suggesting murder in the hope that they will scare Skelton into telling where they are...alive? Has this happened in any other cases? Sorry, I don't follow enough cases to know. I would be more help if I did...

I don't think so, Citigirl, as it was LE who has said that he confessed to killing them, wasn't it?

I am missing MSM that has reported that he actually confessed to killing them. I just hear "not a positive outcome" because of his information. They could have asked him, "can you prove they are alive?" and he said "no" because he has hidden them well. So they characterize his information this way to scare him...that he is going to be charged with murder.

On JVM: JS was taken out of hospital in wheelchair - must have really busted that ankle.

According to sources, Morenci Police say John Skelton has admitted to FBI profilers that he killed his sons. No further details were released regarding the admission.

I think that if he had planned a murder-suicide, he would be laying next to the boys right now.

Or maybe he was too much of a coward to do himself in.

Bill Foster on JVM - says the dad is a monster and did not want to pay child support.

The wheelchair might be hospital policy and doesn't necessarily mean that JS isn't ambulatory.

How far is holiday city away form his home??

Sorry I'm just getting caught up. It's no more than 30 miles. Holiday is mainly a truck stop area because of the toll road. Maybe a few houses if that.

I keep hearing about a lake/pond (some type of body of water) being searched in that area. Are you familiar with the area, do you know what they are talking about and if so, is it deep water???

Map showing the search areas that have been in MSM - looks fairly large and probably defined by the cell phone pings.

Some basic questions around this whole story:

1. If JS was out of work and house being foreclosed where did he get the money to take the boys to Florida at least once and maybe twice in September?
2. Who was fronting money to JS for his journeys?
3. Was/is there another party involved?
4. Who was he calling from his cell phone Friday morning?
5. Were they pings from just having his cell phone on?

How could he have failed so miserably in a suicide attempt - or was it really a suicide attempt. Just questions - only questions - nothing more.

It's probably IMO a small pond (retention pond) man made when they were working on the toll road or the exit. I lived in the area in the 70's and don't remember it being there back then. I was back there 6 or 7 years ago.

I'm having a hard time with the idea that a father would kill his kids to get out of paying child support. Not that anything surprises me any more but I would just like to think a person wouldn't stoop so low. I suppose the idea of paying child support on top of being unemployed, and recently separated could drive a person to desperate measures ...BUT ...why not just kill himself and let his kids live. Sorry for rambling ...I just don't get some people :banghead:

A cell phone doesn't have to be in use to get a "ping" it only has to be on. A cell phone will ping off the nearest cell phone tower in that area. From what I've read from some of the locals is that these particular areas are fairly small towns and densly populated, I suspect there aren't many towers in that area and one tower (where LE got the ping) may cover a large area.

Holiday City, Ohio - basic map and then street views. It looks like a truck stop as described - the area is flat - looks like some gas stations and a couple of hotels.
