Skelton said she has not asked to speak with her husband, but would be willing to do so if investigators thought it would help.

“If the FBI wants me to, I will, but right now, I’m doing what has been asked of me.”

Asked whether she thought John Skelton was capable of killing his sons, she shook her head and said “no.”

“The John I knew, and was in love with, would not,” she said. “That’s all I can say now.”

She said she has not spoken with any members of her husband’s family, and said she did not have a good relationship with his parents.

John Skelton’s parents have accused her of abusing the boys and said their son took them away to keep them safe. Tanya Skelton said those claims are untrue.

“I love my children,” she said. “I would give my life for my children. I have never hurt my children, nor would I ever hurt my children.”

Tanya Skelton said she doesn’t know why her husband would have taken the children, “other than to hurt me.”

“But along the way he’s hurt more than just me,” she said. “He’s hurt my family, his family. He’s hurt the whole country. He’s hurt their friends, friends who have to wonder at night where their friends are.”

She said she’s heard from one mother whose son is so afraid because of the Skelton boys’ disappearance that he has to sleep in his mother’s bed at night.

“I’m an adult, so if you want to hurt me, hurt me,” she said. “But leave my children and the other children out of it.”

My heart breaks for her, and their families. I wish, my biggest Christmas wish, is for these little boys to be home where they belong on December 25th.

I would like to know what proof the family has been given that the boys are with an organization?

They seem to believe it.

Pretty much everything John Skelton has said or done has been proven to be a lie, hasn't it? What do they think about that, I wonder?

Surely they are not going on his word alone, right?

If they are, why are they allowing so many people to be going through torture and heartbreak, wondering about those boys?

BBM. If I were ever in this situation (which I pray to God I never am), whether I was his family or TS, I'd make myself believe that, too, until I was shown proof otherwise. His family doesn't even want to entertain the fact that their son might be, not only a murderer, but a murderer of his own children. TS and her family don't want to believe that the children might not be alive and that it could be at the hands of her (soon to be) ex-husband. And again, I'd keep that belief alive until I was given proof otherwise. Elizabeth Smart comes to mind. Her family held out the hope that she would be found alive...and she was. I hope the same can happen here.

Basically, neither side of the family wants their worst fears to be realized, IMO.

I highly respect TS for not bashing the husband, even though he deserves it, she instead has shown kindness and forgiveness. That says a lot about her character imo. That mistake she made is in her past and she has committed her life to the Lord (who has forgiven her) and has moved on. I believe she truly loves these boys and has not done anything to harm them. I pray they are alive and that God will bring them home to her, that God will also give JS a conscience to tell the truth. If any family members are involved, I pray they will come forward and do the right thing despite how they may feel towards TS (as she indicated they don't get along with her).

I agree with you Shorty! Well spoken. I know at one place she said that the man she married could have never hurt their children. I also think this is the heart of the problem. He is not the man she married anymore because if he still was I guess then she would not be seeking a divorce. I know TS is very aware and concerned for the children that know her kids. Infact the first thing she said to me when I was at the house after giving me a hug was "how are your kids doing?" Here is a women missing her kids and the first question is how are my kids. She also told the local paper that the boys firends should not have to wonder where their friends are and worry about them.
If the boys are still alive they have to be missing their mom so badly. They are always with her. TS also said that if they are with strangers then they need to be home. But if they are with someone they know then she probably knows that person too and that hurts even more to think someone she knows is hiding the kids.
Someone asked if the family knows more then they are saying. In my conversations I really did not get the feeling they knew any more that was on the news, with the exception of the fact that the police told them information shortly before telling the media.
The police have been silent with the exception of saying in the local paper last week that the FBI are still here in town and they are still working the tips and case every day.

BBM. I think people are referring to the family of JS when they say this. They've adopted a completely nonchalant attitude about this entire situation...not interested in asking him where the boys are...the relative going on a year long rural sabbatical and not telling anyone where. It's all kind of odd. JMO.

Yes, this.

I think his parents, sister, aunt, and cousin have been very nonchalant about this whole thing. It was like they posted a couple little blurbs on FB, didn't change their profile pics to pics of the boys or the candles, didn't skip a beat playing farmville, etc. It was like how I would react if my cousin's uncle's sister's next door neighbor's cat was missing.

The interview with Tanya is absolutely heartbreaking. I do have some observations after watching it.

1 - I really never felt that her past should even be an issue, and I feel even more strongly now. I honestly do not believe that this woman is a danger to anyone. She made a mistake which she has paid for, and that is it. End of story.

2 - I also have great respect for her to be so caring and compassionate for other children and how this affects them. I would love to shake her hand and be a friend. She truly seems like an amazing woman. This isn't all about her at all. She understands the impact on this to others.

3 - I really think it would be the greatest Christmas present in the world for these children to be returned to her for Christmas, and I sincerely hope that this can happen.

Ah those little guys...I only have a daughter (grown, with a grand daughter)) but always wished I could have had a son, or 2 or 3 Maybe what I didn't have is what draws me to these little fellas. Like the 3 muskateers!

Good am... dont know if it because i am far away and dont see what is going on in morenci or what...but i am thinking the FBI and LE are poorly solving this case. i come on expecting to see some progress or do a news search... i am getting some pissed cause with each hour it is so sad that they should be home and noone is makin him speak.. can someone tell me why they cant make him speak.. it is comin a month and they are no further than the day they landed him in jail... i know you get one shot in charging or solvin the case but come on...how can they only charge him with kidnappin....or did i miss something.... My christmas wish is for them to BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS...sorry.. had to vent...

I know what you mean, the frustration of expecting them to do something.
Unfortunately, John is holding the cards at the moment. Our system gives him all the rights. They cannot even question him.

Even when they have so much evidence (like in the Zahra Baker case) they want to have an airtight prosecution when it goes to trial. If they take him to (murder) trial now he'd likely be found NG and then poof, he is free to go.

Sometimes I think we ought to have real quick public executions, old west style.

if the boys are with an organization i shudder to think of that organization's objectives and true mission might be (and what they might be doing with the boys). i don't see any evidence to show that placing them with any such organization was the only, or even a good, option. i would think a "real" advocacy group would come forward and say they had made a mistake in helping the father, so that leads me to think any group he might have been working with would be dangerous/radical. mostly though, i don't think there is any organization : (

I can't exactly blame John Skelton's family for creating the monster he is, although the way they are not holding him accountable here speaks volumes. But they are certainly contributing to his steadfast refusal to tell the truth now. We have legal remedies for the things they are afraid Tanya has done. Noone has the right to take the law into their hands and terrorize a community of children the way this guy has.

I hope the people of Morenci and the people who know this family in Florida shun them as they continue to support this kidnapper's (possible murderer's) crime. If they are encouraging him not to talk, I really hope they can be arrested for it. Is there any charge they could be threatened with, does anyone know?

Maybe they need to go hang out with the Anthonys. Plain and simple this guy is a liar and selfish, he absolutely is capable of murder as we see he is capable of causing so much pain, if he didn't kill these kids he would have stopped this pain and suffering, what is the point of taking her kids away because she abused them to just then ship them away to a stranger or other family member and not ever be able to see them again?

I mean what is the point? Unless they are dead there is no reason to keep up the charade. They are going to continue with the lies until they can't and the bodies are found and then they will claim the person they gave the boys to reacted to the media and was afraid and killed them ala casey anthony.

There is no orginization or mystery woman. There is only lies and an arrogant selfish family offering no help.
