ADRIAN, Mich. -- The father of three Michigan boys missing since Thanksgiving says he's unable to turn over the children to their mother.
John Skelton appeared Friday for a brief court hearing as part of his divorce case. The judge asked him whether he was prepared to give the children to their mother, and he answered: "I can't."

watching the video of JS today in court was confusing for on what to believe.. Could he possibly be capable of really passing them on to a person. at first he seemed to be pretty good nature. then later on when he couldnt understand stuff he got this little sense of anger. he reminded me of my father for a little bit. comin off as a drunkin short tempered unlovin person. then he seemed to care on what TS wanted for the divorce. he doesnt seem like he would hurt his kids. like he wanted it finalized for some reason. he is a hard person to read...seem very calm throughout the whole thing.

thanks keepinhope for the post on the blog. i often think of the boys alot.

I still want to believe they are still alive cause they havent been found yet.

A judge suspended action Friday on a child custody contempt charge against John Russell Skelton of Morenci. The father of three boys missing since Thanksgiving will first have to deal with pending criminal charges, said Lenawee County Circuit Judge Margaret M.S. Noe.

Skelton’s wife did not look at him during the court proceeding. While remaining silent on their sons’ whereabouts, John Skelton seemed eager to dispute any effort by her to obtain alimony or an order that he pay her attorney fees for the divorce.

Thank-you for posting this video.

My hope is fading fast for these precious boys.

This man is trying to control everything, in a desperate and weak manner.

His only focus is on hurting his wife.

This makes me nauseous. I feel sick after watching this video.

I would have been screaming at him, where are the boys?

The judge should have further pressed him on this, are they not allowed, I truly do not understand.

This is completely depressing.

I haven't heard anything in MSM about any new searches. Maybe Keepinghope would have some info on that.

I know these boys are very seldom far from my thoughts.

I havent logged in since before Christmas here...I hope this is the current thread for the Skelton boys still, is it? There isnt a separate forum now is there?
Anyway, today on the local news they said Morenci Police CHief Larry Weeks is calling a press conference tomorrow at 4:00 pm EST; that the case has changed somehow. Not sure what this means...

In a news release Monday, police say Chief Larry Weeks will provide an update on the investigation and “a shift in the investigative focus.”

Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks could not immediately be reached for comment today.

A spokeswoman for the family is also expected to speak.

Morenci Mayor Keith Pennington said he’ll speak at the news conference about the reward fund set up for information that leads to the safe recovery, return and information leading to prosecution of those responsible.

That can only be good news, if there is a "shift", right?

Maybe somebody really DOES have these boys?

I suspect there will be some pressure applied to those who may be harbouring the boys.

I am very suprised that there is a shift.

Kathye Herrera, a family friend who is acting as spokeswoman for the boys' mother, will give comments on behalf of the family, and Morenci Mayor Keith Pennington will discuss the reward fund established for information leading to the boys.
