OH MY GOODNESS!! I missed this news. The latest news I read was that he was going to be released. Wow! I hope that they have enough to convict. Crossing fingers, toes, and eye brows! Justice for the boys, please, please, please!

a "no body" murder case is an uphill battle.

Sending all the good vibes to that prosecutor!
To be sure, it's an uphill battle, but it's possible to successfully prosecute a no body case. My state did it with the James Hicks case back in the 80s. The only draw back was it turned into a lesser charge with a lighter sentence, which he served only a portion of and got an early release for good behavior. Only to murder another woman after, and nearly kill a 4th in Texas, after.
When they finally found his first victim, the one he was convicted of killing in the no body case, double jeopardy applied, which stunk, but I believe he ended up with 2 life sentences for 2 other victims.

There have actually been hundreds of no body murder cases, and while difficult, they actually have a very high success rate. According to this site which tracks them:

Through September 2, 2024 there have been 604 “no body” trials in the United States, 87% of which have ended in a conviction; the average conviction rate for all murder cases, according to the Bureau of Justice statistics, is roughly 70%. There have been at least 102 cases with victims under 18 years old, and they generally are the children of the defendents.

I suppose (hate to type this !) they could offer a plea deal in exchange for the bodies ?
Make me 🤬 to think of those three little boys out there in some wilderness, at the mercy of the elements and animal predation.
So disrespectful and horrid.
Omo.

Jerome Phillips, who has practiced law in the region for more than 50 years, told WTOL 11 he clearly remembers the shock in late 2010 when Tanner, Alexander and Andrew Skelton disappeared over Thanksgiving weekend. The boys were never seen again, and the mystery surrounding their disappearance gripped northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan for years.

Finally!

LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — Almost exactly 15 years after three Morenci, Michigan boys went missing, their father has been charged with murder.

According to records from the Lenawee County District Court, John Skelton was charged on Wednesday with three counts of homicide/open murder and three counts of felony tampering with evidence.
I have to admit, I had given up hope for justice for the boys. I am so happy to read of these charges, finally.
