Police hope a distinctive pair of boots could help identify a man who's critically injured and cannot assist police alone.

The Donaldo boots, white with gold stitching, were on a man aged 35-45 years old, according to a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety news release.

He's described as Hispanic, possibly Asian or Pacific Islander, about 5-feet tall and weighs 110 pounds.

The man was found around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, near the intersection of East Alcott and James streets (...)

UPDATE: Tuesday, Aug. 9: The man, identified as Gerardo Santiago Martinez, died Monday evening. He is a 48-year-old man from Mexico. An autopsy now is being performed, and results are expected in six to eight weeks.
