MI/UT/NV - Jacob (14) and Joshua Petty, Jr. (17) 5/8/2022 - Traveling to Vegas

This missing persons case has me perplexed and I would like a little help from my Websleuth friends. Can anyone find more information on this case? I am striking out. Where are Jacob and Joshua?

It is my first time creating a post so please feel free to delete if it is duplicate or if I did something wrong

Jacob and Joshua Petty left Farmington Hills, Michigan with a friend, headed to Las Vegas, Nevada. The friends vehicle was stopped in Beaver County, Utah on 5/8/22 at 1300hrs. The deputy identified the driver and two other individuals as Joshua and Jacob. The Deputy advised the car was traveling on the freeway that leads to Las Vegas. Through some investigation, it was discovered Josh and Jacob have family in Las Vegas. Contact has not been made with either boy since the traffic stop. Family has stated that the boys are not with them. The friend and his vehicle has since returned to Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Had a good look about, absolutely nothing. Why would these two young kids be travelling so far across the country? Why is there no media coverage or even public posts seeking help?

YES! And I think it is fishy that they left from Michigan. They were STOPPED in Beaver County Utah. And headed to Las Vegas. Nobody really says where the boys are actually from? And the "vehicle returned to Farmington Hills, MI" without any boys? Who was driving THAT car? This is all so suspicious, yet nothing to be found. No family members searching on Facebook. They have been missing since May and the NamUS was created August 19? This doesn't feel right.

I don't understand this case.

Who is reporting them missing? Family has "stated" they're not with them - as if they're not the reporting party. Is this a case of someone - noncustodial - wanting information about where they are, and being lawfully denied that information?

Is this a case where they're wanted for juvenile criminal activity, and are being hidden by family?

I found family on social media, including family in Las Vegas, and they appear to love these boys and no one is looking for them.

I think there's every reason to believe they're safe and being cared for, and who knows who is trying to find them. Sweet faced kids.

Looks like they were off May 30 but the last day of school wasn't until June 15th. So they missed the last 15 days of school?

Google maps tells me it's a 29 hour drive from Farmington hills to vegas, so left on the 7th May at the earliest if they were stopped in Utah at lunchtime on the 8th. That's 5 weeks of school apparently missed.

The general circumstance seems to make sense to me.

• The boys and their friend with the vehicle live(d) in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
• They received a ride from their friend.
• On the way, the vehicle was stopped in Beaver County, Utah.
• During the stop, it was confirmed who the driver of the vehicle was, and who the passengers were.
• The location of the stop was on a highway, traveling in the direction of Las Vegas, Nevada.
• The driver dropped the boys off somewhere, then returned to Farmington Hills, Michigan.
• Someone (presumably whoever the boys lived with in Farmington Hills, Michigan) reported them missing.
• It was later confirmed that the boys have "family" in Las Vegas, making it reasonable that was their direction of travel and a possible endpoint.
• The "family" in Vegas says they have not seen them, but appears loving and unconcerned on social media.

To me, that collection of events would suggest that they no longer wished to remain in the household in Farmington Hills, and took matters into their own hands to change it.
