“Around 9 a.m. he called me. He told me he had to pick a new spot to bury her. There were people around.”

Okay so the original spot was less than 2 hours from Venus' parents house.

He got the number at 7am, the estimate for the abduction was 7:10 at the earliest. I am guessing the abduction was about 7:30am. Watch her Mom leave, make sure she didn't come back, then call Venus. They should know from the phone records, hopefully that will be released.

We were both thinking he was waiting for Venus's mom to go to work. But, according to a family friend, Venus's mom leaves for work at 5:30 AM.

What we didn't realize is that two older grandchildren were living with the McCombs who had a bus to catch at 7:00 AM.

I agree the abduction/murder took place immediately after the 7:00 call to Ricky to get the McComb's phone number.

He's ducking behind the truck watching for the kids to walk down the road to the bus, perhaps with binoculars. He sees them then immediately calls Ricky for the number and speeds off directly to Venus's parent's house where parks the truck as close as possible, calls the house then hides somewhere and waits for her to walk by.

I'd say The murder took place at about 7:10. Venus had been up chatting with her mother. Although she was wearing her pajamas, she was fully prepared to go outside.

I'm not buying the binoculars. I know some people have amazing distance vision although I sure don't. When she was two, my daughter could see a horse in a field about a mile away from our house. "Hordy!" she kept saying. Another family member can spot game that far away, too.

So, you are saying you don't have a link?

I too clearly remember what Pickie said. It was all over the news, and we discussed it here. Here's just one of the articles.

Police have two reasons they believe there is an impersonator: investigators can place Doug at a Walmart in Ohio the night before Venus disappeared, and there is a witness who can place Doug in Michigan the day she was abducted.

I thought I recalled Risko as not saying how they could place him in Michigan. Too lazy to dig up the videos of the interviews though.

Doesn't matter. Ricky coming forward and providing the rest of the details from Doug has no doubt led LE to tons more evidence.

He has glasses so his vision should be 20/20 with them on. So, you're probably right. What do you think he was doing ducking behind the truck? Why wasn't he in the truck?

He was a decorated sharp shooter right? He could have used a scope. Just speculating.

I thought you had to have 20/20 vision without having to wear glasses to be trained as a sharp shooter!!!

Maybe the decorated sharp shooter claim is a bunch of BS.

Did the two older grandchildren get on the bus at 7 or did they leave the house at 7? It seems that if they got on the bus at 7, they would need to be out of the house before that. This only applies if they have to walk any distance to their bus stop as opposed to at the end of the driveway.

What if they have to walk a couple streets? They could have left 15 minutes early and that would buy Doug 15 minutes to work with.

Just something to consider.

That's true too. I will ask the family friend if they know what time the older grandchildren leave the house to walk to the bus stop and how far it is. I will also send her a Google earth image of the area and ask her to open it with Paint to mark the spot where the bus stop is or to let me know the address of the house it is in front of.

When I'm out shooting photos of wildlife, opening a car door will scare away pretty much any bird or animal unless they're very busy munching on something. My trick is to either get out and wait for them to return or stay in the vehicle. In the vehicle, he would have no way to get her into a headlock, however.

He was clear over on the next street that runs parallel with the road Venus's parent's house is on parked in a field ducking behind the truck at 7:00 AM. He had to be doing that for some reason. I don't think he was going poop!

The person who spotted the man ducking behind the truck in the field reported seeing this around 7:00 AM and when they looked up again five minutes later, the truck was gone. It is unclear how long the truck was there before they noticed it.

I don't recall seeing any reports to that effect. Could you add a link, if it is still findable.

I know that LE have said that they have information that places DS in Michigan, but we don't know what that is. If it is eye witness testimony from a random stranger weeks after then it is suspect.

Most video security footage I've seen is not that clear, and if someone is wearing cap/shades/hoodies, whatever, it will not be definitive. If RS was passable as DS in Virginia he would have been passable as DS in Michigan/Ohio as well.

According to Risko, detectives say a man fitting Stewart’s general physical description went to an attorney’s office in Newport News, Va., the morning of Venus Stewart’s disappearance and made a payment on Douglas Stewart’s legal account.

Risko said the man, who was described wearing a hoodie, mirrored sunglasses and a baseball cap, came to the attorney’s office at about 9:30 a.m. on April 26.

“The people he had contact with in that office that morning hadn’t seen Douglas Stewart before,” Risko said. “We know this person made multiple appearances in Virginia as Doug Stewart during this narrow timeline. But we now know Mr. Stewart was not in Virginia.” Stewart had told police that he was in Virginia at the time his wife went missing, but Risko said investigators now know that is not true.

“We can place him in Michigan now,” said Risko, declining to elaborate on what evidence investigators have turned up. “He had an alibi that he was in Virginia when Venus disappeared and we learned pretty soon that his alibi didn’t hold up. First we were able to place him at a Walmart in Ohio. We know his alibi is fraudulent

Ohhh. I was thinking the truck was closer to the house. I don't think he hauled her any distance to it, after he had her under control. He might have been crouching in hopes of not being seen as he opened the tailgate, got out a tarp, or maybe just on his way over to the property? Would he have to get her down and then move the truck over closer to the house? I would think he didn't put the truck near the house until he was ready to load and leave, if at all.

There is no equivocating on the part of LE. DS was not in VA, he was in MI and he was at the Walmart in Ohio. Futher, he had someone fitting his general physical description posing as Mr. Stewart.

Personally, it would be my preference to use our collective energy to figure out where VS might be instead of revisiting whether or not DS' alibi is solid. This does not appear to be similar to other cases we have all debated when there is a question. There is no question here on the part of LE. The alibi is toast and he can be put in MI. They will have to prove it, but so far what they indicated early on in the investigation has borne out when the evidence is released. It will be vigorously cross examined if it makes it to trial of course.

I like the direction the discussion is taking on the possible locations of Venus based upon the timeline of events....JMO.

A family friend who has been to the house informed me there are no windows in the back of the house at all, that the back of the house faces the road where the mailbox is. If you scroll down to see the Google earth image, you will see there are a lot of trees.

It appears Doug was waiting on the next street for the older children to walk to the bus stop and get on the bus, something which he could have seen from his carefully selected vantage point.

Knowing they were on the bus and that he wouldn't pass them up in the truck while they waited for the bus, he zoomed as fast as he could over to the next street and parked as close as possible but where Venus wouldn't immediately see the truck upon exiting the house and run back inside and presumably in a spot where the truck couldn't be seen by neighbors while being as close as possible to where he grabbed Venus to eliminate having to carry her very far.

When she came out of the house, he jumped out, put her in a choke hold until dead then quickly put her into the truck.

At some point, the tarp cover fell out of the truck and was left behind. Hopefully it has Doug's fingerprints on it. If not, it surely will have the fingerprints of the clerk who rang up the sale at Walmart. If not, at least the fingerprints of the employee who put it on the shelf.

Blackdog, I cannot tell you what to do and would not want to, but I do want to caution you that if you do take a drive and see anything suspicious or likely, you will call LE rather than touching it, right, lol?

Ok so I keep finding Routes that are of different times, the one I found on bing maps shows 10 hrs and 59 mins with this route. An hour less then the last one I posted, I am sure DS researched these routes before he set off anyhow here is this link, I am just trying to determine which route he most likely took so as to narrow it down as to where Venus may be:

Although I struggle to think like a killer....

I am very reluctant to believe that DS hauled VS body all the way to Ohio. The presumption that DS watched the kids board the bus, then call VS on the phone (pretending to be the mailman), then snatch her and strangle her to death, wrap her in a tarp, load the dead body in his truck.....then presume he kept her in there for 2 hours while driving on a major highway??? I can't imagine!! I would sooner believe he wanted to get rid of that body MUCH sooner, and not risk getting caught with it. I can't imagine he hauled her body all the way to Ohio before burying her. I think he either just dumped her body or at least buried her CLOSE to the Colon area. As I've said before - it happened in the peak of field planting season - the HUGE fields near Colon would have been freshly plowed - VERY EASY DIGGING - so he could easily dig a shallow grave and stick her in it. Then within a week the farmers would plant that field, so she could be buried under a field of corn or beans, and not even have that field plowed up for at least a year. That may NOT be where she is, but it seems more likely to me than hauling her body all the way to Ohio somewhere and risk being stopped by the police AGAIN. Apparently he was stopped just a week before and had to call off the 'murder mission'....I can't imagine he would risk being caught on this one by carrying the body on a main highway where he could get stopped, or get in an accident with a dead body in tow.
