Stewart Case Illustrates Dangers of Interstate Child Custody Disputes

Snipped:

Child custody cases can often be extremely complicated, and they become even more so when they take place across state lines. Parents often disagree over which state to try a case in - in part because of the additional expense and inconvenience for the out-of-state parent, and because the laws governing child custody cases vary from state to state.

Sometimes, one parent in a custody dispute may want to file the case in a particular state because the laws in that state are more favorable to his or her position in the case. In extreme situations, a parent who is unhappy with the outcome of a custody case in one state may even kidnap the children and flee to another state, hoping to obtain a more favorable verdict in another jurisdiction.

I wonder if they are just going to wait until the fall when the growing is done and they can actually have a better chance of finding overturned earth.
That makes more sense than anything, given that Doug isn't going to say where Venus is buried.

I always go back to my first thought, and that is a farm field. Shortly after burial in April, the field would be tilled and planted in May. They might never find the right spot if that is the case.

I personally would like to see his families farm fields searched with dogs........

I have been very interested in this case, but haven't had time to catch up with all the posts. Could someone tell me if the man who impersonated her husband was arrested and did Doug give him a reason for needing someone to impersonate him? Thanks in advance!! :blowkiss:

No the man who impersonated Doug has not been arrested but is cooperating with police, LE said he will prob. be charged.

Yes Doug gave him the reason and that was to kill Venus, and that he needed an alibi to show he was in VA ! Brazen ...

This may be far fetched and of course it is all just my opinion and thoughts but, on the farm subject. Without going back and looking and seeing who said it and where it was said... it was mentioned that DS's Dad was ummmm for lack of a better word, ODD.....I don't see why it wasn't possible for DS to meet his dad somewhere and hand VS's body off to him. It was plowing season in Michigan. Farmers are working in their fields all day and sometimes into the night...........no one thinks a thing of seeing a farmer out in his fields, digging or whatever, all hours of the day and night. I know I personally have seen farmers working out in the fields with the headlights on and never gave it a thought. I of course can't say this is what happened but .........am saying I think it could have.

I think it could have too Mom. Didn't RS say DS told his father about what he did?
Maybe it did go a step further. Stranger things have happened. People do weird things to help their children all the time.

Like you, I am in no way saying this happened but it could have.

IIRC RS said that DS said he would tell his Dad/family and RS about what he was going to do....

Ok, I knew I remembered something like that. I guess he meant before he did it. I thought it was after.

Either way, he felt comfortable enough telling his father what he was going to do. That says a lot IMO.
