Venus Stewart Update: Mich. Police Issue Call for Help Finding Missing Mom

"What we don't want to have happen is a hunter or farmer go into a field and come across something and not know it," said Lt. Mike Risko, Michigan State Police. "If you come across it, stop right there, call us."

State police say that in addition to the gray t-shirt, pajama bottoms and Croc-style shoes that Venus was wearing when she disappeared, they are also looking for disturbed earth.

State police say the areas of most interest are in the northeast corner of St. Joseph County and the southeast corner of Kalamazoo County.

Investigators believe Venus is likely buried somewhere within five miles of her families home.

Douglas Stewart in court on sexual misconduct case involving daughter

Snipped:

CENTREVILLE — The estranged husband of Venus Stewart made a short court appearance Wednesday to be arraigned on an amendment added to a civil petition that alleges he engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with at least one of his daughters.

The amendment to the petition alleges that Douglas Stewart, who is facing criminal charges in connection with Venus Stewart’s disappearance and presumed death, is unable to post bond or care for his two young daughters, according to St. Joseph County Assistant Prosecutor Chuck Herman.

Herman said Stewart denied the allegation and a hearing in St. Joseph County Family Court will be scheduled for sometime after his Nov. 1 criminal trial in St. Joseph County Circuit Court.

I hate to quote myself, but did in case anybody missed this article.

I'm glad he will have to face the charges he abused his daughter. I think this is why VS left him in the first place. She was protecting her daughter. Up until the last minute. God bless her soul.
This pizzed him off and he killed her.

The interviews they did with the daughter after VS went missing must have revealed something that had merit.

I hope he pays dearly for hurting his daughter and for killing VS.

He is a 🤬🤬🤬, no doubt.

Snipped...

In a relatively short hearing in a St. Joseph County courtroom, Doug Stewart was arraigned on another abuse and neglect charge toward the children he had with Venus Stewart.

Doug Stewart also is charged with murdering Venus, who has not been seen since April 26 and is presumed dead.

Along with the murder charge, he's separately charged with four counts of the abuse and neglect of his children. The prosecutor added this fifth charge because Stewart is held without bond in a jail, and therefore, cannot take care of his children.

Stewart, in a green and white jumpsuit and handcuffs, made no statements during the 10-minute court appearance.

However, the judge ruled the neglect and abuse case will be postponed until after the resolution of Stewart's criminal case.

Psychic takes up case of wife who vanished; Police believe Venus Stewart was murdered, but can't find her body

Despite their belief Venus Stewart is dead, months of investigation and several large-scale police searches, authorities have not found her body or several key pieces of evidence. That makes the case tougher to prosecute and leaves Venus Stewart’s family, including her two young daughters, with unresolved grief. Police have asked for the public’s help.

St. John was not called by authorities to offer her help or advice. And she has not called them to offer.

Police don’t have time for unconfirmed tips, according to St. John, who said she also works on a traditional Indiana search and rescue team with her cadaver dogs.

Instead, St. John said she’ll make a brief stop where Stewart disappeared, then conduct a “blind drive,” where she says she’ll follow remnants of Stewart’s “vibrations” by car and then on foot.

St. John said she hopes to find evidence like clothing that police have been unable to locate to help in building their case against Douglas Stewart. To St. John, success means she and her dog will locate a body “and bring the family some closure.”

Indiana woman roamed rural St. Joe County in search of missing woman

thank you for giving me an opening to share with you a well sourced link regarding psychics and missing persons cases:
http://www.projectjason.org/psychics.shtml

snip
There is not one proven case in which a psychic, using special powers or abilities not given to the typical person, has located a missing person, whether dead or alive. It may be possible that some persons have an ability that defies science and logic, but there is no known scientific evidence of this. These persons re-victimize families by taking away hope where it should stand, and giving hope where there is none. No person has the right to do this to another.

Psychics and other users of purported paranormal phenomena, cause unnecessary and damaging pain and anguish to families of the missing. They can also add to financial stress if they charge fees. We're already on a roller coaster ride of events and emotions, and we should have no desire to add to it.

I do find it interesting that Risko is getting warrants for people who would not grant land access. I wonder who those people are?

There are a few comments at the link which indicated the reason was that it was marijuana growing season in MI. Any locals have any thoughts on that one?
