Wow, really. This guy apparently wants to get caught so bad he may as well have video taped the murder and uploaded it to youtube. Could be deer blood, blood from bloody noses, etc too.
He had time to get rid of that stuff, though, so why didn't he? Guess murder makes your brains fall out.

I can't find any other links to anything regarding these new findings...

I don't think he'd lend his vehicle to someone to do the dirty deed, one of the perks of having someone else off your ex would be that the evidence would be in their vehicle.

I guess I would like to see something from LE or from a news source that is less sensational than NG before I get to enthusiastic about this.

Nope. Not the case in Michigan, which was at the forefront of developing Grandparents' Rights in the US.

Because Michigan courts are currently handling custody matters of the children, Larry and Therese McComb are pretty much guaranteed at the very least visitation under current Michigan statute:

This new law provides the safeguards required by the Michigan Supreme Court, which would protect parental rights, as guaranteed by the Constitution, while setting in place standards for grandparents who have been denied seeing their grandchildren and gives them an opportunity to come to court and show why they should have a right to see their grandchildren, if that request has been unreasonably denied.

Standing

The new law provides grandparents, in the following circumstances, rights
to request relief from the courts to see their grandchildren, if they have
been denied visitation by a parent:

1. If there is a divorce, separate maintenance, or annulment action pending
between the child's parents, or such an action has already been finalized.

2. The grandchild was born out-of-wedlock and the parents are not living
together. However, this only applies, to grandparents of the alleged father
if he has been declared legally to be the father of the child by a proper
court proceeding and the child's father provides child support in
accordance with his ability to provide support or care for his child.

3. Legal custody of the child has been given to a person other than the
child's parent or the child does not live in the parent's home (other than a
child who has been adopted by a person who is not the child's stepparent).

4. A grandparent has taken care of a grandchild during the year before they
request visitation, whether or not they have done so by a valid court order.

5. The child’s parent, who is a child of the grandparent, is deceased.

A hearing will be granted on a grandparent's request in the circuit
court/family division assigned to the case. At the hearing, the court will
presume that a "fit" parent's decision to deny a grandparent visitation
request does not create harm to the child
(mental, physical or emotional
health). The grandparent who is requesting visitation has the duty to show
the court by a preponderance of the evidence (51% or more) that the
parent's decision to deny visitation to the grandparent does create harm,
either mental, physical, or to the emotional health, of the child
. If the
grandparent does not prove this to the court, by a preponderance of proof,
the court will dismiss the grandparent's petition. But, if the court is
convinced that the denial of visitation has the potential to create a risk of
harm either to the physical, mental or emotional health of the child, then
the court will follow a set of factors in determining what amount of
grandparent visitation would be in the child's best interest.

The red parts are the relevant bits. If the husband is shown to not be involved, the accusations being made now by the grandparents will be considered as "doing harm" or have the potential to do so and their petition would be denied.

I guess I would like to see something from LE or from a news source that is less sensational than NG before I get to enthusiastic about this.

Me too. I just did a news search, and this is the closest I could find, which doesn't say there was blood in the vehicles, but that the detective wanted to look for blood in the vehicles:

Missing mom case leads to Newport News
Detectives want truck found near husband's home

Investigators enlisted the help of the Newport News police department to find clues about a woman they fear is dead. Venus Stewart disappeared on April 26. Her estranged husband, Douglas Stewart, lives in Newport News.

Police have not named Douglas as a suspect, but court records show investigators believe he may be involved.

According to court documents filed in Newport News Circuit Court, a Michigan detective had concerns Venus "may have been abducted" and "may have been killed."

Michigan police wrote to Newport News counterparts that there may be evidence in the truck.

In seeking help from Newport News, a Michigan detective said he also wanted to search the Dodge pickup truck for blood, hair, tarp, and the clothing Venus was wearing when she was last seen.

Well, if this news on NG is true, LE will not have to wait long to charge and escort Douglas back to Michigan.

NG talking to Venus' parents again tonight, asking for a description of the ex-husband. Mother says he's stocky but has lost weight, is about 5'7" tall.

NG now asking producer about guy seen crouched behind pickup truck. Described only as a white male.

No way is he 5'7".

Risky behavior, true, but also lots of planning, if he did this. Still, the call the night before has to show on his cell or his landline unless he wants to explain why, where he made the call from and can prove it. I feel certain that would have been checked out right away and maybe that call did come from Virginia, which would help his alibi hold up "for now." If that call was placed from any other state, he would not even have a temporary alibi.

Oh I have no doubt this was planned. The question is by whom?

I agree, it could've happened earlier than 7:30am if the only thing they're going by is when dad woke up.

The report was very specific... 7:10 to 8:30. That makes me think she did something at 7:10 (check email? make a call?) and that father awakened at 8:30.

NG: asking Venus' dad about conversations he tried to have with Doug asking him if he were at work that day. Dad called Doug a murderer. Dad is positive Doug took and murdered his daughter. He also says the guy seen in the lake is a local guy and has nothing to do with Venus' disappearance. He says LE isn't telling him anything about who saw the guy next to a pickup truck.

If father knows who this is, then why are police still looking for him?

The person police are looking for is a white male in his late 20's to early 30's, approximately 5'5" to 5'8" tall, and approximately 150 to 160 pounds. He was last seen in the area of Adams Lake in northeast St. Joseph County, about one mile east of the site from where Venus Stewart was last seen. Witnesses tell police that the man had been acting suspiciously prior to Stewart's disappearance.

Posted yesterday. The police certainly don't know who this person is.

Sorry guys. Something isn't adding up here...

I'm thinking they're two different people. Dad says he knows who the guy in the water is, a local, and this was the evening before Venus went missing. The other guy by the truck nobody got a clear look at only saying he was a white male. MOO

Two people saw him, and he IS the one her father was referring to. Now why would he say the man is local? If he knows the man, he needs to clue in the police, because they are still looking for him.

Police do not consider the man a suspect or a “person of interest” in the investigation at this time, but detectives “would like to speak to him,” said Lt. Mike Risko, commander of the Michigan State Police White Pigeon Post.

The man was seen April 25 between 6 and 10:30 p.m. in an area around Adams Lake where authorities have been searching for signs of the 32-year-old mother of two. The lake is northeast of Colon, about a mile east of the home of Stewarts’ parents, where she was last seen.

Police released a sketch of the man they hope to talk to Thursday. He is a white man, believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, -8 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, with short, dark hair and a mustache.

Two people who saw the man did not recognize him as someone who lived in the area and said he was “acting suspiciously,” Risko said. They described him as “disheveled, not wearing a shirt and asking people for cigarettes,” he said.

Yeah, no offense to anyone ... but do we have confirmation from the police from a news source?

Guess this hot new information is exclusive to NG - unable to find a news source. And since NG is wrong so often, I'm going to put it all on 'hold' for now. The info about the receipts make sense, but the blood in both trucks???? Arrogance makes a person stupid but - that stupid? moo

LOL You'd think I would know by now not to trust certain "news" outlets. At least this time I see how the mistake was made. In my defense, it was late and my guard was down. :blushing:
Re grandparents rights, I think that broadcasting the allegations to the media that your grandchild has been sexually abused by the father you have branded a murderer could adversely affect your visitation rights in the future if he's found innocent. There was no reason to give that letter to the media, except to stoke the fires surrounding DS-at the child's expense. And it took almost two weeks to go through the missing daughter's drawers? I'm not a snoop (except on here) but I personally would have been on that on day one.
The gp's house sits smack on a river. Why would a mother leave two babies unsupervised for any amount of time when they could have gotten outside and drowned in no time at all? Wake the grandpa up if the mailman comes early. Or drive the whole 2 miles to the PO if you must.
I doubt her winning temporary custody was an issue for DS. There's no doubt in my mind that once they went back into court, he would win based on the DV convictions. The one I read about was far more serious than throwing a shampoo bottle at him, too, and involved one of the children.

Susan Murphy-Milano's take on Venus Stewarts disappearance.

So, I offer the following suggestions to law enforcement in this case where the "handbook" has obviously been downloaded:

First obtain a search warrant for all computers both business, personal, close friends and perhaps those of a relative, too.
Gas receipts, credit cards used within that time period must be gathered.
Unusual purchases at hardware and drugstores.
Where was the person 72 hours prior to the abduction? Were they at work? Did they call in sick?
Bank withdrawals within a two week period prior to her being taken.
Cell phone activity needs to be captured between the time of the abduction and the following 36 hours after the abduction.

She also cites a case with similar circumstances where the ex was miles away at the time. He hired someone to do the deed.

Blood stains were found in BOTH vehicles belonging to the estranged ex-husband of Venus.

Breaking news! Apparent blood stains found in both vehicles belonging to the estranged husband of a Michigan mom abducted when she went to the mailbox in her pajamas to post a letter!
