Another reason why this information should have been kept under wraps until the police were ready to release it. But nooo... DS and his accomplice (if there is one) were tipped off for the sake of *Breaking News !!* :furious:

While DS has no doubt been watched by police, I still believe someone else helped him in this and they are unknown at this time. Knowing what the police found, that person could well have taken steps to make sure those items (and Venus) would never be found.
I'm sure he knew his vehicles had been searched and what was found in them.
IMO NGs breaking news did not tip him off. He knew before NG did I'm sure.

If the second person left the evidence in DSs truck, IMO he's not too worried about being caught.
The items from that receipt and Venus were hidden well before last weekend.

I agree, and I hope they learned their lesson and keep all critical and relevant information to themselves. As bad as I feel for the parents, if they can't be trusted not to talk to NG and media, then they shouldn't be told anything that could compromise the investigation.

How do we know it is the parents that leaked the info? The parents said on NG the one night that LE had not told them if the search dogs had picked up a scent, so why would LE tell them something even more important.

Police this morning were searching an area in St. Joseph County for evidence in the abduction of Venus Rose Stewart, authorities said.

This is at least the third time that investigators have combed an area in St. Joseph County since Venus Stewart’s disappearance.

I read where police found the plastic wrapper from the tarp on the Walmart receipt on Venus's parent's property. I have to wonder, if the wrapper had the husband's finger prints on it, if that would be enough to arrest him.

I am starting to think the blood, if human, is not Venus', as that certainly would be enough to arrest him along with the receipt, I would think? Although of course defense would say she could have left blood on either vehicle previously...the fact that they have not taken him into custody is making me wonder if they are not finding anything physical, i.e prints, dna, that are on items where they should not be...it is always harder in these cases when the victim could have come in contact with the vehicles and items in them prior to the crime...

Interesting thought. I thought of those gloves he bought, and figured maybe not. But it's good to hope.

Who found the plastic wrapper? Police or the parents?

It seems that given whatever they've found so far and his alibi, it's just not enough to connect him with her abduction. I'm wondering if his alibi covers the date and time for when the items were purchased?

IIRC the father found it and turned it over to LE.

Doesn't say much for the police that they'd miss something that significant.

I think he noticed it before LE arrived, that is all. I do not think they missed it.

Clearly a tarp was used because of the receipt and the wrapper being found near where she was abducted.

You have two choices when carrying a person in a truck: in the cab or in the bed.

Since the tarp had been removed from the package prior to Venus's abduction, it seems apparent he used it to conceal her body as well as to keep evidence out of his truck.

Nothing has been said about finding blood around the area where the struggle occurred.

For him to get her in the truck to transport her, she had to be either unconscious, dead or restrained.

Duct tape quickly wrapped around her wrists, ankles and head to cover her mouth could have been used.

The abductor's object was to get Venus into a vehicle as quickly as possible without being seen or heard.

My guess is that he had the tail gate down and the tarp laid out onto which he put Venus then folded it over her.

There still remains many questions, of course, like where the truck was when he grabbed her.

Did he see her coming out of the house, run to his truck, start it up and swoop in on her (OR) hide in the bushes then force her to walk to the truck with him (OR) knock her out then carry her to the waiting truck?

Taking her any distance would be very risky given the time of day. There were at least some neighbors awake, from what the father said on NG.

Ah ok. I thought you meant that he found it after the fact.

Douglas Stewart is thought to be attempting to transfer to the Detroit area office of US Food Service, where he currently works in Virginia.

Venus Stewart's father, Larry McComb, told 24 Hour News 8 Doug Stewart still calls him asking about his children.

However, Lt. Risko made one thing clear. "We are not actively looking for Doug Stewart. We are still focused on looking for Venus."

I think he's trying to relocate to Michigan so that he'll have more standing in the court when he tries to regain custody of B and R.

Terrifying.

I live in Michigan near the Colon area, and our local news has reported that DS was enroute to Michigan last night WITH his attorney. So, apparently the attorney knows all about him coming to MI and of course LE is keeping tabs on his whereabouts.

Lt. Risko says they are still working on comparing tire treads on the truck with tracks found in a field near where Venus Stewart was abducted. They will bring the truck back to Michigan for further testing. Lt. Risko says they have also heard that Stewart is moving back to Michigan for a new job. He has apparently hired a criminal lawyer based in Portage to defend him.

Douglas does exactly what is expected from a wife abuser - he drags his wife to another state, isolating her from family and friends - all in the name of driving a food delivery truck as a job. Now that she is gone, he moves back and surrounds himself with family and friends. Unless he gets a new woman to beat down, all he has left to terrorize is his children or Venus' parents. I guess for now, playing games with LE is keeping him out of trouble. moo

He's playing the games he plays best - mind games! moo

ETA: Venus' parents need to be very careful for themselves and the children, moo
