I sent Abigayle Sloan a message on FB about the lack of coverage to see if she knows why. This is crazy.

I keep checking on news about Venus also and am so disappointed she hasn't been found and/or someone arrested.

Maybe I'll make a list of all the media sites that have covered this case and e-mail them all tomorrow asking what the deal is.
Even if I get 1 response, it will be something.

How can the coverage of this case just be gone?????

I agree, it's like the information coming out just came to a halt... There's got to be something going on... There hasn't been anything in the news at all... :-/ Poor Venus & her children... They deserve so much more.

I didn't get a chance to email any media today.
Work has been crazy, home has been crazy, and we are smack dab in the middle of softball season.

I do plan on doing this when I get the time.

Oh.. I dunno... maybe...

They're still looking for the Doug imposter(s)...
They've located the imposter(s) and are now in the process of questioning he/she/it/them...
They're eliminating evidence that isn't crucial to the case so that they may build a better case with what they do have, seeing as there is no body (yet)...
They're waiting on the results from the fluid and items found in the car & truck and just have nothing to report...
They're keeping a close eye on Doug to see what he's doing and analyzing it...

or... LE's completely stumped, they have no idea how to connect the dots (even though the picture clearly points in Doug's direction), and Venus's case will never be solved. They've now clammed up and have decided that maybe if it's out of sight then it's out of mind...

I don't know what's what.. just throwing theories out there... none of them are necessarily my own or anyone else's... just possibilities...

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY - Douglas Stewart will not be allowed to visit his daughters anytime in the next three weeks. A judge ruled Venus Stewart's children will remain in the custody of their maternal grandparents.

Venus's estranged husband, Doug Stewart, and her mother, Therese McComb, are both seeking custody. Stewart has been missing since late April, when she went out of her parents' Colon Township home to put a letter in the mail. She was in her pajamas. Signs of a struggle were found at the house.

Stewart, the only "person of interest" in the disappearance of Venus, is the biological father of the couple's children. Venus had reported to police that he engaged in inappropriate touching with one of their daughters, but charges were not filed by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office due to a lack of evidence. When Doug Stewart's attorney asked where the children are staying, a representative from DHS refused to answer. Both sides will be back in court June 17, and the girls will be re-assessed by psychologists.

BBM...ok, so finally, another court date tomorrow...(Thursday) in Centreville, Michigan. Hopefully there will be much more known by the time that's over with. Still hopeful for a non-violent end to all of this...

What I find odd is that media is not even reporting on the lack of information on the case. They are not even saying, Venus Stewart is still missing but we are not getting any information from LE. Normally media will dig up "something" to report on.

I think there has been a request from LE that the media not report on this.

There has to be a reason the coverage just stopped cold.

Did media get too close to a probably answer?
What made LE decide not to disclose anything else, at that time?

Media can't report if there is no news. I do not believed that all these various LE agencies are going around telling media not to report things, this came up in another thread as well. Media is free to report what they learn and I for one, hope they continue to do so. If LE can use the old "trying to protect investigation" to keep media out, we may as well not have free press, as it is likely to become standard from LE.

Of course media can print a story saying nothing is new in the case, but who wants to read that? They are waiting for headlines or actions, IMO.

Last time the media got involved was when the Triple Double Doug stories came out and there were a few internet articles that came out that were oddly and quickly revised within a few hours and had information removed, things that had been reported were cut from the stories. Anybody remembering this?

Ok, well, I just called and spoke to a gal in the news department at WWMT Channel 3 in Kalamazoo. I asked why there had not been any new reports from them regarding the disappearance of VS. She says that each day they contact MSP for any updates and that each day they are told there is nothing new to report. She also told me that the truck is still NOT back in Michigan, and I said, "are you serious?" and she said, yes, it's not back in Michigan yet. I said, I can't believe that." I also asked her about under what circumstances an online article is written and then half of the information in that article is later revised and deleted, what would be a circumstance where that would occur and she said it is highly uncommon and only happens when LE retracts some of the information they originally provided in a media report after the fact.

So there you have it. She suggested talking to the person who puts the articles online to be more specific, but I had to get going...

Sure they can. When no news is coming from LE, in a high profile case like this, media normally digs up SOME info to report.

Also, LE can absolutely ask the media not to report on a case!
