Well, that solves the question of whether he showed up on the tollway system (which would be the most direct route).

I don't get why this dumbazz planned this from early April down to the accomplice clothing, and left the receipt for shovel, tarp, etc in the truck.

Maybe he threw it away and an angel put it back in his truck. I'm not saying this is the case. But, wouldn't that be something if Doug really did throw it away? Can you imagine how creepy that would be if you were Doug and you know you absolutely threw away the receipt? I could see the angels chuckling over that move!

For what ever reason the receipt remained, I'm sure Doug kicked himself in the butt when he learned they found it. Yet, he still goes and files for custody of his daughters? This man is delusional!

Yes, it's the DA and he's the youngest DA in the state of Michigan.

This will be his first real murder trial IIRC. He went after a murder conviction against the parents of Calista Springer, but it wasn't really a murder case.

(this was the girl who was chained to her bed by a dog chain and then died in subsequent house fire.)

Respectfully edited...I actually get why he left the stuff in the truck...I once spoke with a member of LE who said that rarely do criminals make a plan for after the crime. I suppose it is fortunate that they do not-DS may have had an idea of what he might do, but I think that once it was over and he disposed of VS he only thought about getting back to VA and retrieving his ID from Mr. Spencer. Shortly after he returned, he was contacted by police and all bets were off.

I'm so glad they have arrested him, and sad that they believe she is no longer alive, although I felt that way since the start. Her poor parents and daughters

True, very true. I can't imagine how Doug thinks. But, I believe I would be in a horrible state of panic if I did what he did then learned the receipt for the murder kit was found in my vehicle. At that point, I would have probably wanted to run and hide in some other country, not move back home with my parents and expose myself to the media and public, knowing what they thought I had done, much less appear in family court.

It is clear Doug Stewart doesn't think like the rest of us do and has no problem going out in public knowing that everyone thinks he molested his daughter and murdered his wife.

When I was in my 20's, I had a hard time driving down our one lane to go to work or the little country market after getting ripped and behaving like an at a party!

If they do offer him a deal, I hope it's at least 40 years! Too bad they don't have the death penalty in Michigan. They may offer to drop one of the charges against him and reduce his sentence. Regardless, if and when he does get out of prison, if found guilty, he will be a very old man and will have had plenty of time to regret what he has apparently done. He will NOT enjoy raising his daughters, something which he clearly wanted to do without Venus in the picture. And, he will not be able to continue sexually molesting his daughter or molest the younger daughter, if that is what he was doing or wanted to do in the future.

From what I hear, child molesters aren't treated very well in prison and are often murdered, something which he is probably aware of. I hope he spends every day worrying about getting stabbed or strangled!

they said the biggest proof was found in the truck. he didn't say it was the receipt. what if it wasn't the receipt he's talking about but perhaps something her parents knew she was wearing at the time she was abducted? perhaps a necklace that came off in the struggle or something like that.
