We would for sure have something, Pickie, if the car is registered to Richard Spencer or Doug Stewart...
Driving a vehicle with a body in it certainly isn't something any person would feel comfortable with, unless they thought they were so smart they can get away with anything. (Can you think of anyone in particular who believed they could get away with murder?)
One would think the first thing DS did was to dispose of Venus's body, that he'd already prepared a grave a short distance away from Venus's parent's home.
Since Doug Stewart purchased the hat, gloves, tarp and shovel at an Ohio Walmart the day before Venus disappeared, clearly he planned to have plenty of time to dig such a grave between when the purchase was made and when he abducted Venus many hours later.
But, there is the chance that he changed his mind about taking her to that spot for fear someone had discovered it and would be there when he arrived.
If I dug a grave in the woods, abducted and killed my estranged husband then proceeded to drive to the grave, I'd be in such a state of panic that I wouldn't be able to think clearly and would most likely be extremely paranoid that someone would be waiting there for me, that I'd get caught, especially in broad daylight!
The St. Joseph County prosecutor said, during the press conference about Doug's arrest on an Open Murder charge, he believed Doug lured Venus out of her home, abducted and murdered her then immediately drove back to Newport News, Virginia.
Burying a body takes time, regardless if the hole is dug already or not because the dirt has to be put back into the hole and the burial spot made to appear as though it was never disturbed.
The article doesn't say if the body was in the trunk or not. Could he have had another vehicle parked somewhere that he put Venus into to deal with after he arrived back at Newport News?
Could yet another person have been involved in disposing of Venus's body?
(The car is parked here. Drive it into the river.)
