lol. It was unavoidable, but serious. Doug had plenty of time and opportunity to dig a grave prior to Venus' abduction. And he had that shovel. So I wondered if blackdog's time included digging, or just covering up the dog food.

I'm getting low on doug food. Exactly where is it at? Lol!

After staring at the map for two hours, I notice that no matter which of the two routs Google map suggest, the two intersect at a state park 36 miles south of Colon.

I think the reason Doug brought the truck was so he could go off into the woods without worrying about getting stuck or high centering the car.

Staring at the map for two hours and burying 3 bags of doug food. You are cracking me up! Ruff! Ruff!

I think the reason Doug brought the truck was so he could go off into the woods without worrying about getting stuck or high centering the car.

I wonder if Doug had any favorite 4-wheeling spots or if he was known to go target shooting in the woods in the area surrounding Colon.

While in Newport News and planning Venus's abduction and murder as well as where to dispose of her, I am inclined to believe he mulled over the various places he'd been to in the area surrounding Colon and decided which place would be the best, that he had a good idea exactly where he was going to bury her.

I believe Doug dug the grave prior to abducting Venus because he wanted to get her out of his possession as soon as possible. He also needed to make sure he could find the spot again which may be part of the reason he waited until it was light to lure Venus out of the house.

In Saturdays Three Rivers Commercial-news (Michigan) the cover says "Police plan Venus search". And I notice in the article the statement "private searches are problematic...." So, lets hope they find something this week. However, just the fact that their organizing a search suggest Doug's not talking. And if he's not talking, he must feel the body is well hidden. Or at least out of Michigan jurisdiction. I guess this week will tell...

Dozens pray for Venus Stewart and her family during Sunday's vigil
Published: Monday, June 28, 2010, 12:00 AM

Gabrielle Russon | Kalamazoo Gazette Gabrielle Russon | Kalamazoo Gazette

COLON — For weeks, Dustin Jasper prayed that his younger sister, Venus Stewart, would come home safely.

But in a way, the missing woman has already returned home, Jasper told the nearly 60 people who gathered Sunday in downtown Colon to pray for Stewart, who has been missing since April 26.

“I’m glad her home is with you, Lord,” said Jasper, of Sturgis. “I ask that you give her a hug every day until I can see her again.”

That includes everything. With the exception of whatever went down between them when she was still alive.

Thank you, blackdog. Good experiment. Helpful info. Thanks for doing it.

:blowkiss:

p.s. thanks also to your dog :)

The man who spotted the car tells us the vehicle appeared to be a red, newer model 2-door Hatchback and did not look as if it had been under water for long.

Police tell CBS 6 that a decomposing body was found in the red vehicle at the bottom of the river near Interstate 95 and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Bridge. Police can't even determine the age or gender of the person, as the body has severely decomposed

Thank you for posting the updated article. I have not received a Google alert e-mail for it yet.

I find it interesting the antenna appeared to be broken off to keep it from sticking up out of the water.

I also wonder how heavy the current is in that water and if the car moved down the river until it rested in that particular spot.

If the car ended up there by accident, it would have had license plates and registration information in the glove box and there should be other identifying information either in a purse or wallet such as credit cards.

I know that LE found what they thought was blood in both vehicles, is it possible Doug brought Venus back to Virgina transfered her to his other vehicle, drove her body to a waiting vehicle he may have purchased and pushed or drove it into this river ? Far fetched I know but I at times can have a creative imagination .....

Here is why it might work, Doug knows LE will be searching for Venus in MI, because ya know, well he had an air tight alibi  So driving her back to VA would work because he thinks it is the last place they will be looking for her. He had quite a bit of time to plan and think about it. You can by a car remove vin #'s and identifying markers on the car never register it and it would be real hard to figure out who or why for awhile, plus I am sure he would think it would be awhile before it was found ... I dont know throwing it out here scince we seem to be idle on any new news ......

I remember reading that a neighbor saw a man ducking behind a gray, 4-door truck in the field across from Venus's parents house and that when they looked again, it sped off, that this occurred around the time Venus disappeared.

Did the person drive by and see the vehicle?

My thought is that Doug would have wanted to get Venus out of his truck as quickly as possible for not knowing whether or not someone had seen him near Venus's parent's house in the truck or actually taking Venus and putting her into the truck.

Four-door trucks are not that common and if law enforcement were to have issued an an APB (All Points Bulletin), the truck would have been pretty easy to find unless it were hidden in a garage or wooded area out of sight. (It wasn't like it was a gray mid size sedan as owned by thousands of people but a unique truck that sits much higher and would be easier to spot when on freeways in traffic.)

So, the most important thing on Doug's mind had to have been to get Venus out of that truck as soon as possible.

When planning where to bury Venus, Doug had to have considered that there was a possibility law enforcement would be notified shortly after he abducted Venus and he could absolutely not have her body in his truck very long at all.

This is why I think he drove into the woods as soon as possible as he didn't have the cover of darkness to aid him.

If I was the perp I would want out of dodge asap, the longer you are in the area(going into the woods, etc) espec. with the possibility of someone seeing you you are more of a target because news has spread to LE and everyone would be looking more. You would have at least an hour before LE kicked in gear with their investigation, that would give you an hour of drive time to be further away from the crime thus less noticeable, your just another John driving down the road ...... even with a body in my truck

That's a good point too. I just would be afraid to drive down a two lane country road for very long with a body in my vehicle! In fact, I'd use the dirt roads to get where I was going, if at all possible, after burying the body.

I'm not familiar with that part of the country but I can get to many towns around here by driving on logging and fire roads rather than getting back onto pavement.

Just a thought but.....isn't it also possible that he did not kill her there at all? What about IF he took her and kept her alive untill he got back home? He could have threatened her family or kids if she didn't keep quiet or whatever........
