There are still a LOT of questions left unanswered in this case. I mean, I think we've all pretty much started to assume some things which is natural, however, assumptions do not facts make, and we still need answers for many of the valid questions about this case. This is my Law Enforcement wishlist of information I'd like to know.

#1. I want to see video of Doug at Walmart in Ohio if they have one. Or at least if LE could confirm it's him on the tapes. (I FEEL THIS IS STILL BIG)

#2. I want to see video of the Doug impersonator in Virginia. (I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WEREN'T PLAYING IT ON THE AIR WHEN TRYING TO LOCATE THE IMPOSTINATOR)

#3. I'd like to hear more about the evidence recovered at the Stewart's residence in Fulton that is supposedly connected to the case.

#4. I'd like to hear what the new evidence was that "came to light" a few weeks ago proving that DS was in Michigan the morning of the abduction.

#5. There is still that pesky truck...taking Foghat's advice on the "Slow Ride"...back to Michigan.

#6. I'd like to know why LE searched Adams Lake vicinity so hard if they thought WetMan wasn't involved, and why, after that, they really didn't search much of anything anywhere else as far as terrain goes, (aside from the Stewart's property which I assume is customary when serving search warrants).

#7. The Busch Gardens passes...why?

These are 7 questions that we don't have answers to, that I feel are very relevant to what's happened/happening in this case.

I remember reading that a neighbor saw a man ducking behind a gray, 4-door truck in the field across from Venus's parents house and that when they looked again, it sped off, that this occurred around the time Venus disappeared.

Did the person drive by and see the vehicle?

My thought is that Doug would have wanted to get Venus out of his truck as quickly as possible for not knowing whether or not someone had seen him near Venus's parent's house in the truck or actually taking Venus and putting her into the truck.

Four-door trucks are not that common and if law enforcement were to have issued an an APB (All Points Bulletin), the truck would have been pretty easy to find unless it were hidden in a garage or wooded area out of sight. (It wasn't like it was a gray mid size sedan as owned by thousands of people but a unique truck that sits much higher and would be easier to spot when on freeways in traffic.)

So, the most important thing on Doug's mind had to have been to get Venus out of that truck as soon as possible.

When planning where to bury Venus, Doug had to have considered that there was a possibility law enforcement would be notified shortly after he abducted Venus and he could absolutely not have her body in his truck very long at all.

This is why I think he drove into the woods as soon as possible as he didn't have the cover of darkness to aid him.

Since I live nearby I decided to take a drive through the Driftwood neighborhood recently and spoke to some neighbors back there who were out walking a dog and were kind enough to show me where the alleged abduction truck was sighted and where the tracks were...I think you might all be surprised to learn the actual location of where the truck was really spotted...it's nowhere near the McComb house, in fact it's about 1/4 mile if you take the roads. It's way down one road, up another road accross a bank of vacant lots towards the back where the vacant lots meet up with a farm field. I have been there, seen the tracks...it's nowhere near McComb's, you can't even see McComb's house from there and you certainly couldn't hide out where the truck was to lay in wait for a victim to walk to the mailbox and expect to get from point A to point B in enough time to capture someone. It's more than 1100+ feet away on a straight line (If the triangle formula is still accurate) with homes, large growth trees, brush, campers, boats and other objects blocking the line of sight straight through to McComb's house and over 1600+ feet away if you take the roads. The reports in the media made it sound like the truck was parked right accross the street in plain view of everything. That is simply not the case.

If anyone wants to have a looksy at where the exact area is of where the truck was witnessed...I can show everyone if someone wants to post an aerial map of the neighborhood. (Bing or Google should suffice)

Here is the actual plat map...though the actual spot is off of this map, you can get somewhat of an idea here...plus if you look closely at the widths of the lots, you can add for distances, as I did.

http://www.stjosephcountymi.org/taxmaps/flash/Plats/0020802.pdf

zoom in on it...and find LOT 20 Which is McCombs...their house is up by the river end of the lot...(it has one of the O's in the word Driftwood)

Now follow Driftwood Drive to the left from Lot 20, turn right on Venecian, go to the end of Venecian, accross the street you will see additional lots (which are vacant if you look at an aerial map...beyond those lots is a farm field. It's at the edge of the vacant lots and the farm field that the truck was spotted.

It's this type of information that LE has, that we are only capable of speculating on until we find out the truth...but it is interesting isn't it?

I mean, how many have been thinking this whole time that he had to have some set on him to park accross the street in broad daylight and grab her? Or that he was parked right accross the street and that's how he got her into the truck and got away so quickly? Where the truck was actually seen, doesn't lend any hand to those speculations.

That probably explains why LE are taking so long to bring the truck back, they perhaps thought there was a reasonable possibility that the tracks won't match, and that would have removed something they could cite as probable cause until they got better evidence for their theory of what happened.

Some more questions:

#8. What on earth could have motivated this Spencer guy to get involved in a kidnapping plot with a guy from another state who he apparently knew from online gaming? How did they even find this guy?

#9. Why were the first things they took as evidence (from the search of his home in Virginia) various recording media such as computer storage, video tape and voice recorders, but NOT things such as cell phones, answering machines etc, nor anything that might physically link him to the scene, such as shoes, clothing etc? In fact the whole "physically linking him to the scene" appears to be a fairly low priority for them.

I agree. Before the blackdog and I start searching, I need some of the doubt in my mind removed. Most of whats come out seems more like a fishing expedition without showing some facts.

Doug has a Thursday court date. I'm going to go over and try to get a seat. I'm interested in hearing more detailed information.

He'll be in court today too. I also think Richard Spencer will be present but am not sure. "Douglas Stewart is scheduled to appear in court June 29 for a preliminary exam amongst prosecutors and his attorney. His preliminary hearing is slated for July 1st."

The St. Joseph County prosecutor said Richard Spencer would be present at the preliminary exam, I do believe.

On the photograph you posted, straight south of the "C" in the word Colon in the center of the photograph is about where McComb's driveway is. The house is set way back from the road, close to the river.

If you follow Driftwood west from there you come to Venecian Way (which is the first cross street). Take a right there and go north you come to where Venecian comes to a T stop at Sewanee, you'll see vacant lots and the farm field.

If you continue on as if the street continued, to the edge of the field, then look to the left you will see approx 3 large growth trees lining the field. It's around those trees that the truck was spotted, the tracks went up and in then back around one of those trees.

I called a lawyer, and he said I probably wouldn't understand today proceedings. He suggested going with me on Thursday and explaining anything I don't understand. That's if we can get in.

Parents say Venus Stewart might still be alive if estranged husband was prosecuted for alleged child molestation
Published: Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 11:20 PM

COLON — Venus Stewart’s parents believe she might still be alive if her estranged husband had been prosecuted for alleged inappropriate sexual contact with one of the couple’s daughters.

Larry and Therese McComb are leveling criticism at the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for declining to authorize a request by the Schoolcraft Police Department in March for criminal sexual conduct charges against Douglas Stewart.

Within days, the McCombs say, Venus Stewart was snatched outside their rural Colon Township home, where the 32-year-old was staying with her two daughters, allegedly in fear of her estranged husband whom she had left behind in Virginia.

Now Douglas Stewart is lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail, charged with murdering his wife, even though she has not been found, and is facing a civil action over the alleged molestation. A hearing on evidence against him in the murder charge is scheduled for Thursday morning in Centreville.

snipped............................................

In their grief, the McClouds say they’re looking for explanations, believing Venus would have returned from her early-morning trip to the mailbox the morning of April 26 if Douglas Stewart had already been charged with CSC.

Larry McCloud breaks down when he recalls his last attempt to reassure his daughter.
“’When I’m dead and gone, you remember this conversation’ she told me. And the next day, she was gone,” he said.

Chesterfield County police investigators are still hard at work trying to determine who owns a vehicle that was found in the Appomattox River over the weekend. Badly decomposed human remains found inside the vehicle were sent to the state Medical Examiner's office for identification.

Reid also said that investigators are still trying to determine who the vehicle belonged to before it ended up in the river.
