Note the possible alias (Stefanie Elissa Steinberg). I did a quick search and cross referenced some findings to look for possible MP report, identity theft case, names of relatives who may be missing, etc. It was barely a 'scratch of the surface' kind of search which yielded nothing to my untrained eye. Maybe one of you can come up with something.

Katey went missing 25 days before and about a 24 minute drive from the house fire where these remains were discovered. I've searched for but didn't any find more info on Katey. I wonder if after wandering from the group home she entered a home, either randomly or not, then fell victim to an accident, foul play, or possibly even self-harm? These cases are in separate jurisdictions so it may be possible they've never been compared. Just my opinion. Your thoughts?

I did look a little bit, and I found an online voter registration record for an SES that would fit the pre-60 age bracket and had an address in Waterford, MI. I also found a Facebook account with that name and a town of residence listed, which I won't say. However, it is in Oakland County, MI.

Maybe they're pretty sure of her identity but just have no one to test her DNA against to confirm the match?

ETA: Apparently one of SES's previous addresses was in the town listed in the Facebook profile. I think they're the same person? And that profile has a picture of who I presume to be her, but I can't prove that.

ETA 2: Person of interest ID'd in case of dead woman found in burning Waterford home. This has the same address (for the burning home) as listed on the voter registration website and identifies a suspect. It sounds like they're pretty sure that this woman is Stefanie Steinberg, but can't definitively prove it.

From second link it appears she has family (although she could be adopted).

Oh, I didn't catch those two articles, actually. Why is this case still on NamUs? That's really peculiar.

Thanks to both of you! I'm confused by the NamUs profile for both being active still and listing her name as an alias. I guess it's possible her name was simply entered into the wrong field on the profile. But that doesn't explain why the profile is still active especially since it doesn't mention being only partial remains.

Ok, so now where's Katey?
