This is terrible. Awful. I can’t even fathom.

I pray all 3 victims survive!

I hope this dangerous criminal's parental rights are terminated before they are born, but we all know that it probably won't happen. (CPS's cruel determination to "reunite" child victims with their attackers so they can do it again and all.) MOO

From the original link:
". . . he doused her with lighter fluid before setting her on fire."
" Among his past are charges including drugs, guns, and assault. He also had warrants out of Macomb County and a pending case in Livonia."

This is horrible, horrible! The possibility of his release on $5000 cash bond is insane.
I swear, I can hardly look at the news anymore. What world are we living in?! He could get out on a $5,000 cash bond while she and the twins might not survive.

I'm not for the death penalty, but cases like this make me want to reconsider my position.

What is wrong with some people? Setting a human, setting anything on fire, that's their solution?!?!

Ghastly and beyond hideous. There should be ZERO bail. And charged with attempted murder x3.

This is ridiculous! He is an active and clear danger to the public. In most locations, or a couple years ago, bail wouldn't even be considered. But this is where we are now.

There's a general insanity infecting much of the court system all over this country. That's the only explanation I can find for this.

This monster needs to be put away forthwith in a small cell for the rest of his natural life, but no...he'll be massaged through our wonderful 'justice' system and all his 'rights' will be respected to the last letter. If this were Los Angeles County our wonderful woke D.A. would probably release him on his own recognizance and remind him of his court date six months from now.

IANAL but... what happened to subsections a, c, and d when bail amount was set? Maybe someone who is an attorney can explain it to me?

765.6 Accused persons entitled to bail; amount of bail; considerations and findings; surety bond; surrender by defendant of operator's or chauffeur's license as security; receipt; expiration date; extension; written notice; return of license.

Sec. 6.

(1) Except as otherwise provided by law, a person accused of a criminal offense is entitled to bail. The amount of bail shall not be excessive. The court in fixing the amount of the bail shall consider and make findings on the record as to each of the following:
(a) The seriousness of the offense charged.
(b) The protection of the public.
(c) The previous criminal record and the dangerousness of the person accused.
(d) The probability or improbability of the person accused appearing at the trial of the cause.

if he was a parole absconder, aka parolee at large, he should have a parole hold placed and these are no bail.

however, hes only charged with DV? he should be charged w attempted murder and bodily mayhem.

sick he definitely needs attempted murder charges x 3

No wonder partners are often unwilling to come forward in cases of violence.

I agree! It absolutely boggles the mind!! How could any human being hear this story and think "Let's give him bail. I'm sure it will be fine."

The hospital bill is already more than that bail!!!

So, is this the value this judge places on three human lives?

Article upthread indicates burns on 60% of her body!

Apparently, he posted the $5K bond on Friday:

Detroit man Devonne Marsh who set pregnant girlfriend on fire released on bond

A man accused of pouring gasoline on his pregnant girlfriend and lighting her on fire has posted bond in Detroit, Michigan.

Devonne Marsh posted a $5,000 bond and walked out of jail in Wayne County, Michigan on Friday after being arrested two days earlier for allegedly lighting his girlfriend, who is 6 and a half months pregnant with twins, on fire and burning over 60% of her body, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

However! He was somehow re-charged and is currently in custody on a $750K cash bond:

Detroit man re-charged with setting pregnant girlfriend on fire, bond raised to $750K

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Detroit man who was held initially on a $50,000 or 10% bond after police said he set his pregnant girlfriend on fire during in argument is now being held on a $750,000 cash bond for the charges as they were reissued after he was released from custody last week.

Devonne Marsh is accused of dousing his girlfriend, who was pregnant with twins, with lighter fluid and then setting the woman on fire inside their home on Jan. 14. When he was arrested, he was ordered held on a $50,000 bond with 10%. That means he was able to get bailed out of jail for the assault with intent charges for as low a $5,000.

Not really making much sense to me right now but it's been a very long Monday...;)

I don't know how it happened but I sure am glad it happened!

I personally believe that people were absolutely outraged by this. More and more, there is becoming a vocal outcry by people who are getting fed up with rampart, runaway crime, and seemingly zero accountability by the justice system to protect people from criminals.
