Michael Constantine, father in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding,' dies at 94 (nbcnews.com)

Before the "Big Fat Greek Wedding" phenomenon, he was best known as a TV actor who played a principal on the high school comedy "Room 222."

Michael Constantine, who played Gus, the father of Nia Vardalos' Toula Portokalos in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," by far the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, died Aug. 31. He was 94.

Constantine's agent confirmed the news of his death. He died of natural causes.

I loved his "MBFGW" role, but particularly remember him from many tv shows during the 70's. He stood out as wonderful, comforting "staple" in my tv-watching cabinet.
