Found Deceased Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, British tourist, suddenly disappeared from Ofrynio beach in Kavala, Greece, 1 Aug 2025

Since there is a silver alert, there is no need to have testinonies from the neighbours that she is unwell. The silver alert is issued in Greece when the person is Elderly (60+) and/or when there is danger for their lives if they disappear, I.e. not taking their medications for instance because of serious health problems. This is issued only after their doctor provides the relevant information on the missing person's health. So, in this instance, the silver alert proves that she is unwell. Of course we don't know whether it is mental health or other health issues she is having.
I think it's not really to do with alerts, silver or not.

I'm interested to know how unwell she is, and whether she has wandered off or disappeared before.

I don't think we will be told how unwell she is. From what I have read I think she might have depression. It is really indicative that the alert is silver as this is the one that they need the doctor's confirmation that the missing person's life is in danger because they have gone missing. Otherwise they wouldn't have issued a silver alert for her. I think this is significant.

Her husband said to the authorities

" that his wife had also gone missing in London in 2020, after being fired from her job, and was then located by police. This incident, combined with his concern for her health, is adding to the mystery surrounding the current disappearance."

I'm still interested in finding out more about her, including where she is now.

I know someone in this thread wondered if she had other family. This article mentions she has a son.

Another added: 'The couple are very private and keep themselves to themselves. She is very quiet and timid and he is a bit more commanding. They moved to Glasgow about six years ago because their son is studying here.'

'They are retired and tend to go everywhere together even though they have two cars. They are quite guarded and private but I'm very shocked that she has gone missing.'

Hmm. In 2000, she began a job in London and resigned in 2003. From the link in the post above mine from @Sarahlou, they've been living in Glasgow for the past six years. Her neighbours in Glasgow are the ones who've said they were quite active, enjoying hiking, swimming and bicycling. I'm having trouble putting together a timeline. I can't find her job history past 2003. I can't find a police report of her going missing in London in 2020.

From what i can see she worked as director in the company her husband Christos worked before as director from 1995 until 2000 (he is a pharmacist). She resigned in 2003 as you say. After that we don't get much info. The neighbours mentioned they are both retired and that she is from Glasgow and moved there 6 years ago because their son was studying there.
So in the meantime (2003-2019) were they living in Greece? They seem too young to retire ?!

Perhaps she resigned in 2003 because she had a baby.

Her being mentioned as a "director" in the company
clashes with her description by neighbours as being shy & timid IMO
(per the DM link I sent earlier)

But maybe,
some kind of later MH problems made her like this.
Timid and prone to "being lost" :(

Perhaps, although the U.K.'s maternity leave is pretty darn generous. I'm trying to sort out the husband's work history as well as Michele's to figure out if they've had the house in Greece for years as a holiday spot, while living in London till six years ago when they moved to Glasgow.
I'm thinking she was a stay-at-home mom.

Just a guess, of course.

A previous article in the thread included an interview with a neighbor where they stay in Greece. Apparently they stay at his deceased father’s family home. The neighbor said they sometimes visit for a bit. I will look for it…

ETA: I dont know how to add links to prior post when in edit mode. See next post.

From the article above kindly provided by C.greek

"The only testimony that exists in us - there is no sign of criminal action - is of a bather who saw her, just before her husband woke up and realized that she was missing, swimming in the sea. And nothing else. We have no evidence that she was seen on land," said Mrs. Dimoglidou, adding that according to the Police protocol, the investigations will continue for 15 days.

"Investigations are ongoing. According to the protocol we have, a person can live without food and water for 10 days. We usually expand the investigation and do it in a fortnight, then we essentially stop," he stressed.

In the village of origin of the husband of the 59-year-old missing woman, in Chryso, Serres, the residents are upset by the news.

As the president of the community, Theologis Lazaridis, told the protothema.gr, the husband comes from the village and sometimes visits his father's house.

"The man has been living in England for many years and here he sometimes comes, but not regularly, to his family home but he did not go out into the village. As my fellow villagers told me, he had come to the village a week ago and some people saw him. Then they obviously went on vacation there in Tuzla. Now I don't know exactly what happened, and we learned that the husband slept on the sunbed and when he woke up his wife was lost," said Mr. Lazaridis.

According to @C.greek and their translation of an article in Greek in 182 (thank you!), her work incident occurred in 2020 in London (fired and went missing). But that doesn't jibe with having lived in Glasgow for the past six years. I hope we can tighten this timeline and get some officially sourced info.

Michele was born in 1966 in Hammersmith - Father - Asproth. Mother - Groves.
Michele and Christos married in 1989.
Their son was born in Germany in April 1990.
He went to uni in Glasgow from 2008, give or take.
Michele and Christos then moved to Glasgow in 2018 and have had their address there ever since.

All of this information is easily available in the public domain.

Their address is on the ER from 2018-present.
Son is listed on ER in Glasgow from 2009-present.

My guess is they moved to Glasgow in 2018 to be closer to their son.

If she resigned in 2003 and had a job in 2020, that gives plenty of room to be a stay-at-home mom.

Might not matter as her child is now old enough to be attending school where the parents apparently moved to be close to.

Regarding Highgate Company:

The Director's appointment in the Highgate company wasn't employment.

It's a company formed for the purpose of self-management of the finances /interests, and decisions of property development. The Directors are a consortium of long leaseholders.

When Christos resigned in 2000, Michele was put on in his place.
I am guessing they sold up in 2003 or thereabouts...

so if she was living in glasgow during that time.. maybe after she was fired from her job, she travelled to london where she went missing? if she had lived there before she might have been visiting friends/family there and then disappeared for a bit?

Since there is a silver alert, there is no need to have testinonies from the neighbours that she is unwell. The silver alert is issued in Greece when the person is Elderly (60+) and/or when there is danger for their lives if they disappear, I.e. not taking their medications for instance because of serious health problems. This is issued only after their doctor provides the relevant information on the missing person's health. So, in this instance, the silver alert proves that she is unwell. Of course we don't know whether it is mental health or other health issues she is having.

Some of the following characteristics means one or more. Being over the age of 60 qualifies as "silver alert". She is 58 years old (born in Sept 1966). That leaves taking medication, dementia, serious health issues, suicidal tendencies.
  • Not over age 60
  • Needs medication is not unusual for a 58 year old - some people "need their meds" from a much younger age
  • Dementia - unusual for a fit healthy 58 year old cyclist/ hiker
  • Serious health issues seems unlikely - since neighbours describe her as an avid cyclist and hiker
  • Suicidal tendencies - maybe. Do depressed, suicidal people wear a two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach shoes and a pair of red horn-rimmed sunglasses? Sounds rather cheerful for a depressed person.

"Cases of missing elderly people that can be classified as incidents for activating a Silver Alert should be assessed collectively and have some of the following characteristics:

• The age of the missing elderly person (60+).
• The elderly person suffers from Alzheimer's Disease or Related Disorders.
• Clear indications that the elderly person is at risk (e.g. due to inability to take medications important to their health or life).
• Suspicions indicating possible transfer of the elderly person by third parties to an area other than that of his residence.
• The elderly person is facing a serious health problem.
• The elderly person has a tendency to harm themselves."

Missing in London in 2020, missing from a beach chair on a Greek beach in 2025. If there are no "missing" incidents in between, doesn't sound like there's a connection.
