Police have launched a desperate search for a British woman who disappeared from her sunbed on a Greek island whilst her husband was asleep.

A Silver Alert was issued after authorities failed to locate Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, who suddenly disappeared from Ofrynio beach in Kavala at around noon on Friday.

How long was the husband asleep? How far could she have gotten in that time? Walking, Car? Surely there must be some CCTV in the area or resort.

Thank you from this mid-50s gal 😄 Ignorance or it sounds more sensational to write? Crazy. In my opinion, 90s sound more elderly to me.
Yes, but remember most articles in DM are written by intern students who may not even have reached 21.

That article seems to be from a bad translation.
What person on earth could recognise someone "from their bones"
I read, that she was identified from her swimsuit.

Greek police, following their investigation, have ruled out any foul play, stating she almost certainly died "as a result of drowning". Michele was initially identified due to the tankini she was wearing when she disappeared last month, reports the Mirror.

"Greek police
ruled out foul play,
confirming drowning as the cause of death.

Michele’s body, partially clothed and decomposed,
was identified by her tankini
and evidence of prior chest surgery.

Forensic scientist Nikos Kifnidis stated:

'There were no other injuries…
The swimsuit she was wearing,
bought in the UK,
was central to her being identified'."

The husband was wrongly reported as saying he recognised her "from her bones"
That was from an incorrect translation.

It was something that he never actually said.
He said he was asked to identify what was left of her, even though parts of her were just bones.

I am totally aware that her swimsuit was part of how authorities knew it was her.

I hope that clarifies things.

"Silver Alert" was announced when the woman was missing.

I don't think DM has anything to do with it ;)

Quote:

"It read:
'Her life is in danger. If you know anything, contact the Silver Alert service, 24 hours a day, at the National SOS Line 1***'.”

From the article above from The People, posted by Onlyguessing23

“I have already filed a complaint against the police and the coast guard because they were criminally slow to deal with my wife's disappearance,” he told Protothema. “Valuable time was lost and she could have been alive."
...
Michele previously worked in IT for a large company, her husband told Protothema. He added that she stopped working in the last seven years and had experienced psychological issues, “but she had completely overcome them.” She was also expected to receive her pension in a couple of months.

During the search for his wife, the Greek outlet reported, Chris said he had no hope that Michele was still alive because she didn't have money or her medication with her when she vanished.

Chris also refuted the idea that Michele intentionally vanished, telling Protothema that she was financially independent and could have just divorced him.

she drowned and would not have been alive treading water or floating for long enough that the police would find her, especially since he was asleep for an undetermined amount of time

Snipped and BBM. IMO that's a very weird way to phrase it. I hope it's a bad translation.

I understand him.

If I had media wrongly suspecting me, I would most likely have said something similar, that there was no need to set up a plan to escape.

So far nothing he has said or done makes me think he had anything to do with what happened.

Tragic drowning, whether she meant to or not. In my opinion.
