Millard Properties: Locations and Ownership

Who said $9.5 ??? That was my whole point , it was either a typo or a clueless reporter .

Maybe not: e.g., the cost of the hangar $6.4 + the $3.8M charge on the six-plex = $10.2M...I think $9.5M is in the ballpark. It seems by the numbers the M's lost 1/3 of their property portfolio value through the MRO misadventure.

That would leave one feeling poor enough to steal a truck, no?...especially with WM's assets frozen after his death.

.

There have been several requests wanting to know the Actual borders of the Millard Farm on Roseville Road so here it is.

(The farm has now been sold to a landscaping company)

If anyone happens to know exactly where the forensic tents were set up , please mark them on the map ... I have a general idea where they were but it would be nice to be accurate , thanks

I have also put it in the PHOTOS and MAPS thread http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...APS-**No-Discussion**&p=11746749#post11746749

There was a post in the DM main thread with a link to Snooper's image of the site with the tented areas circled. Can you bring this image over there too? Thanks for the info. It looks like the tents were on his property.

Only one article ever mentioned a $9.5 million price tag on the hangar. Every other article has always quoted $6.4 million. Personally, I think it's possible that that one and only reporter who quoted the $9.5M confused the cost of the hangar with the amount that Council spent to expand and improve the airport.

Regional council had vacant land to lease and $9 million to spend to expand the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

In 2010, council approved construction amounting to $9,142,801. This was spent to grade the vacant site in the airport's northwest corner, improve drainage, install utilities and servicing, reconstruct and install pavement and other works.

When things went over budget, bank loans provided funding for the tools and staff needed to obtain key Transport Canada certification, which came through on November 1, 2012, just before Wayne’s death.

Here is a labelled map with all the points of interest, including where the forensic tents were set up.

http://www.cbc.ca/kitchener-waterloo/features/millard-farm/

Woah there were a lot of points of interest and scattered over the entire property. :O

An abundant amount of evidence just on the farmland alone. :)
MOO.

This map is from before more remains were discovered. The tents are not marked on this map.

LOL, some of the points of interest are the neighbours taking a picture, the memorial, the media, the crime tape.

The tents are marked and they are in the same spots that SnooperDuper marked on the other map. Each is labelled as..

Forensic investigators erected a tent at the back of the farm. Police are bringing buckets of material, possibly soil, outside the tent where they are passing it through large sifting screens like those used in archeological digs.

Police officers take a break at what looks like a command post that’s been set up on the edge of a field at Millard’s farm.

Not sure what tent you're looking for.

Are you talking about these "more remains"?

“The investigation continues and at this point there is no confirmation that other remains have been located,” said Const. Debbie McGreal-Dinning, Hamilton police spokeswoman.

Further, Staff-Sgt. Matt Kavanagh, the lead investigator in the case, said Tuesday that no other remains have been found anywhere and the report needs to be “cleared up.”

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/police-deny-report-of-other-remains-found-on-bosma-murder-suspects-farm

In the last few days, police sources had told CBC News they believed they had found other remains on the property, but they were unsure if they were animal or human.

On Tuesday, Hamilton police Sgt. Matt Kavanagh said, "We're dealing with one set of human remains."

on the farm there is a chunk of woods to the west shaped like the state of Florida. There are a few stray trees east of that corresponding to the Bahamas ;) That marks the area in the main woods where the previous owners of the farm had a picnic spot, and that is where DM set up the incinerator. I think this is where most of the action took place. As for the second tent...?

The tent closest to the road is the one by the blue tarp (Swedie's second picture above). Would that be the incinerator under the blue tarp? The one further back on the map is the double tent where they were sifting. Was that where they had thought there might have been more remains, or was the body found separate from the incinerator?

Aha! I finally found the reference that MM did not have insurance on the Harley

I am sure glad MM got back his Harley.

It was found in the hangar near Kitchener in the DM case. It’s especially nice for MM since he had an insurance mess-up and the bike was not covered. It will actually still cost him thousands to get it re-assembled but at least he has it again.

Great find Snooper. An appropriate case for small claims court don't you think?! ;) Hmm approximately May to September, five months.

BBM, UBM...Perhaps until the surveillance video was shown? :blushing:
MOO.

One of the vehicles recovered at the Waterloo airport hangar earlier this month is a $35,000 Harley-Davidson belonging to MM. The Toronto resident said he advertised his motorcycle on Kijiji last fall before pulling his ad from the site.

The motorcycle sat inside his trailer when both were stolen from the driveway behind his home on King St. E. shortly after he pulled the ad, he said.

Thanks to that, he has three-quarters of the bike back now and is hopeful more of it will be found.

He managed to secure some surveillance video which he turned over to Toronto Police.

"Perhaps that tape will have some good information on it for the current investigation," Marty said. "I don't know if it was ever looked at."

In the summer of 2013, months after her son’s arrest, she told a judge in Toronto small claims court, where she was appearing on Dellen’s behalf, that he was innocent. It’s not known what her reaction was when Millard was charged in April 2014 with the first degree murders of his father, Wayne, and his friend, Laura Babcock. According to sources who know the Millard family, police stepped up their pressure on MB not long after the additional charges were laid.

Both parties should go for a settlement conference – a meeting with the parties and a judge to try to find an answer to the case that all parties can agree to. It must be held no later than 90 days after the first Defence is filed.

The Small Claims Court hears disputes on a wide range of matters:

contracts for goods and services
debt collection
damage to real and personal property
services rendered
trespass
professional malpractice and negligence
tort actions (wrongful acts that result in damages or injury)
consumer issues
N.S.F. cheque
unpaid invoice/accounts for goods or services sold and delivered
promissory note
Landlord/Tenant disputes (rent arrears, failure to return security deposit, destruction of rental property);
breach of warranty (claim that an item purchased does not work the way it is supposed to work)

http://allontario.ca/2012/07/small-claims-court/

If you are the defendant in a small claims action and you are served with a Plaintiff's Claim, which you wish to contest, you must then prepare a document called the Defence. Defendants must prepare and file their Defence with the court within 20 calendar days of being served with the claim, unless they have been granted an extension by the plaintiff or their lawyer.

If the defendant is also owed money by the plaintiff in connection with this action, or if the defendant wishes to seek contirbution and indemnity for the damages sought by the plaintiff from another party, they will have to prepare and file a document called a Defendant's Claim.

Once the Defence in prepared, it is filed with the court and a copy of this document is mailed to the plaintiff by the court clerk. At this time, the court clerk will also begin the process of scheduling a settlement conference within 90 days of the date that the first Defence is filed.

Awesome post, I somehow missed this.

I was watching this old clip of DP and he mentions that the M's had two companies (MA Ltd, and M Property Holdings Ltd?) and the lawyers were BM http://www.blaney.com/our-lawyers

http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada/Hamilton/ID/2385605760/

MA would be the MRO company (red ink) and MPH the real estate meaning the hangar I guess. None of the other properties were in a company name.

If you are looking for accurate info on airport properties circa 2005 there is some listed here in regard to the injury and death of the employee who fell off a platform while working on a plane. Go to page 24 http://www.annrbrocklehurst.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Brantford-Airport-Distribution.pdf

Workplace safety fined MillardAir $15,000 for not having railings on the stand , records show the corporation had no assets at the time , so Wayne honorably stepped forward and paid it himself.

The person who accidentally died was a long time friend and employee of Millards and they took it pretty hard , he was an elderly guy they had been giving odd jobs to , he did not watch his step and fell 5 feet and hit his head.

Flight holdups, airport rent blamed for shutdown Pearson air charter line folds: [FIN Edition]
Bruce Campion-Smith TORONTO STAR. Toronto Star [Toronto, Ont] 17 Apr 1990: D3.

One of Canada's largest air charter companies is going out of business and the company's owner is blaming a hefty rent increase and crippling flight restrictions at Pearson International Airport.

About 40 people will be out of work when Millardair shuts down May 31.

"We're going down the chute. The sooner I get out of here the better," owner Carl Millard said yesterday.

Pearson flight curbs to stay, sources say: [FIN Edition]
Toronto Star [Toronto, Ont] 12 Jan 1989: A6.

"We are getting about half the flights we used to, and we can't keep this up," said Carl Millard, president of Millardair Ltd.

"We are losing $10,000 to $15,000 a day."

Millard, an airline pilot for more than 40 years whose cargo company employs 20 people and operates 25 planes, said the procedure of giving the small firms the leftover slots is "discrimination."
