The owner of the apartment complex where Ultimate Home Health Services was operating its ICS facility told KARE 11 the company held the lease for the entire building. But he says Ultimate Home disappeared, has not paid rent since November, and there are people with disabilities abandoned on the property. The owner said he doesn’t want to evict the people still living there onto the street, but can’t continue covering the cost of utilities while not getting paid for rent.

Good article, thanks. Here's a quote...

"Ultimate Home’s owner, Othman Mohamed, never responded to KARE 11’s interview requests. The company website was a skeleton, their address listed as 1 2 3 Main Street, Anytown, MN. They were actually headquartered in the back of a Bloomington strip mall, but no one was ever there when KARE 11 visited."

I wasn't aware of the autism fraud...

"How it happened:

Funding for autism centers grew from about $2.2 million in 2018 to $228 million in 2024 while the number of providers jumped from 41 to 439."

A hearing in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday about fraud in Minnesota took a heated turn between University of Minnesota professor Eric Schwartz and Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

"We are already seeing statistics that the net benefit of Somali presence in the United States far outweighs the cost," Schwartz said.
...
"The statistics about recent arrivals, using high percentages of welfare benefits, those statistics are not unusual, but what we find is over time those communities get off welfare and their children and their children's children, as we are seeing, become doctors, nurses, lawyers, professors," said Schwartz.

The fraud concerns are real. Dozens of Somali Americans have been convicted or charged in scandals like Feeding Our Future. But Schwartz says those represent just a small percentage of the population.

"The fraud is really important and has to be investigated and it has to be prosecuted, but the story in Minnesota, as most Minnesotans know, is a positive one," said Schwartz.

A Minnesota whistleblower says she has faced increased retaliation after reporting mistakes in state contracts.
(…)
She said the retaliation she's faced was sending "a very bad message" to other DHS employees to "toe the line."

Bernstein said she didn't agree with being considered a whistleblower.

"We all should be doing this," she said. "I think that’s what I earn my paycheck for. I think that’s what my coworkers do each day as well."

Trump Treasure official to exit after objecting to Minneapolis crackdown - Washington Post

A top Trump Treasury official is leaving his post after privately raising objections to White House-backed plans to crack down on alleged fraud within the Somali immigrant community in Minnesota, according to seven people familiar with the matter.

John Hurley, a donor to President Donald Trump who is serving as the undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, began telling associates in recent weeks that he was leaving his post. Hurley had recently conveyed his concerns to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about a project to enhance federal monitoring of international payments from the Minneapolis area, according to the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

His departure underscores how some Trump allies in the federal government are uneasy with the extent of White House directives to deploy law enforcement tools against Minneapolis’s Somali community. Two of the people said he raised data privacy concerns over the plans in question.
