In reading a message board at the Jacksonville NC Newspaper one of the posters stated that Maria was adopted when she was 19mths old and that there is just a mom and no step mom.

(snip)
Authorities were "searching the area for the grave that could be in and around the place where she was murdered," Brown said. He quickly said he wasn't ready to call her death murder.
"I am not calling it murder because the story has got some twists and turns," he said.
******

WTF is Brown's problem???!!!

sounds like he doesn't want to committ to an answer because of military BS.

If she was murdered and buried in his county...it is no longer a military case, imo. He needs to step down and have nothing further to do with this case. It is an outrage! The North Carolina State Police need to immediately take over and find out where this poor girl and her baby are buried.

It sounds to me like the Sheriff's dept. needs a hefty lawsuit brought against them. Sad to say, the only one who can profit would be the mother who called her daughter a liar and went into her bipolar publically to discredit her.

Something has to be done to find her. Brown needs to retire ! Send us LE who actually know what to do. :banghead:

Why haven't they posted Lauren's license plate numbers for everyone to be on the lookout for them ????? I am sure he is long gone from NC by now, but if they posted the description of his car and plate # people could look for him and perhaps spot him elsewhere
:( So sad for Maria and her little baby, all alone and cold in the woods somewhere all this time

1. The man she accused of raping her...is now the prime suspect in her "murder", but there is no murder yet.
2. She had contact with him after Dec. 14th.
3. She is supposedly dead and buried near where she was "yet to be determined" murdered.
4. The Sheriff is an idiot.
5. There is also a woman they want to speak to possibly involved in her "yet to be determined" murder.
6. The sheriff is an idiot.
7. They are conducting searches for her.
8. The military hasn't said anything yet.
9. The idiot Sheriff acts like there is a possibility she either killed herself or died of natural causes so he won't call it a "murder" yet...but she is supposedly buried in a shallow grave.
10. Obviously, the poor girl and her baby are dead...the suspect is on the run with an 8 hour head start...so they said.

Bumping to keep this atop and on the next new page as we don't have a forum. SS, I laughed twice reading your top ten list, thanks sweetie, I wish the outcome was different, I wonder if her own families reaction in the beginning didn't hinder the seriousness of her disappearance causing all authorities, military and civil, to not act or respond in a more urgent manner in the beginning. After hearing the comments about her not related, so called no account step mom, I'll leave it there. I don't even want her remains to go to her, maybe the angels cemetary. I can't remember the name, that a woman citizen started years ago for the babies and unclaimed bodies she has memorialized in their honor.

Maybe if Brown quit believing everything the suspect(s) tell him there wouldn't be so many "twists and turns" to the case.
