Welcome Shultzan. I'm not a fan of Brian's at all. But I'll save the why's for another day. I've always wondered about the close proximity of two adults and two dogs in a van. That's why I think another location or two vehicles were used. We still don't know for sure where the second van is. An employee of Krogers posted a blog that stated she found Ella and that Ella was very timid.

Here's a recent article that has a bit more information than most of the news sources:
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/gwinnett/stories/2008/01/08/emerson_0109.html
A press briefing has been called at 3:30 p.m. at the Athens home of family spokesman Peggy Bailey

Emerson's parents, who flew in from Colorado last Wednesday to help in the search, met briefly with reporters at Vogel State Park on Monday afternoon. They had Meredith's dog Ella, a black Labrador mix, with them.

....he (Hilton) could be heard telling Union County Sheriff Scott Stephens that he had been treated well since he was brought to the jail Saturday night.
"They got me three blankets and they're taking good care of me," said Hilton, whose only other comment was at the end of the hearing when he turned to his attorney and said "Thank you." His attorney declined to comment on the case before the hearing and could not be reached afterward.

Curious as to why Ella didn't have blood on her? But she is black so she very well may have..

Thanks for the welcome. If you ever get some time, go ahead and shoot me a PM and tell me about your opinion of Brians.. I have been somewhat skeptical of some things.. I'd be interested in hearing someone else's take on it.

So Ella was timid.. I wonder what her usual demeanor is? I know that if my chocolate lab was running around in a parking lot he'd prolly be excited if anyone came up to him, not timid (depending on the person probably) since he's such a friendly dog. Seems like Ella was friendly too, I wonder if that behavior is unusual for her.

Just trying to get a sense of what that poor dog must have seen/been through. I'm just so glad he spared her for the sake of Meredith's family.

It also appears that Hilton wasn't really a fan of dogs per say. He was a fan of very well behaved and well trained dogs. On numerous occasions he threatened dog owner's pets because he claimed they weren't well behaved. He ranted and raved to one person while waving (the baton?) that he was chasing a pack of wild dogs. What a freak job.

I think you have his personality pegged very well. It seems he was bothering people in Murphy Candler Park for years.

Hi everyone I've been lurking on this thread for awhile now waiting for my account to get activated.. so glad that it finally did.
Does it seem to anyone else that Hilton "wanted" to be caught? If he is a serial killer he has certainly not left as much evidence around as he did in Meredith's case.. or maybe his mind is deteriorating (talk of mental illness or MS) I just find it curious that he has never slipped up before.. or maybe the LE was just really on the ball this time.

Welcome Schultzan31!

I think he wanted to get caught too. I think he's had his sick fun and now wants to be taken care of....as mentioned in another post about his warm blankets and how good they are treating him in there. He's getting old now and can't drift forever. And Lord knows he'll die in there before they actually execute him. He looks too comfortable with his situation to make me think he didn't want to get caught.

Except for his height, he reminds me of Couey.

Wishing peace for Meredith and strength for her family.

BTW, kudos to all of you who are digging all of this up. You're doing a great job.

Or he is just an opportunist. If we think of all the potential victims he could be involved with that is the commonality. Females alone, small child, elderly couple and possibly young imbibed men. Robbery is part of his MO but so is vulnerability.

ITA. He is a serial killer who preys on people who appear weak.

I keep thinking about Jenna Nielson. She wasn't weak in the ordinary sense but was almost 9 months pregnant and alone in the convenience store parking lot in the dark.

Is there anyone on here in GA that could have Dandy placed with an adoption group, a foster family? It's not Dandy's fault about Hilton. Also it would be good to have more pictures of Dandy, as it would help to trace where Hilton has been. If a potential witness doesn't connect Hilton right away, together with a pic of Dandy, a dark golden retriever i believe, they may connect it, or just remember Dandy and a van, etc.
There's accounts of Hilton being seen all the way north as PA. So there's no doubt he traveled.
In regards to Levi Frady's case; if he was making fun of Hilton, even just laughing or glaring at him, that seems enough to piss Hilton off to the point of murder. Low self esteem, maybe in his mind would make him murder.
I was also thinking about Hilton having 2 white Astro vans in his name. Would he leave one around as a decoy while he drove around in the other? If people assumed he was living in one (not sure which one) it would throw them off to his whereabouts if he was traveling in the other.

And near a homeless encampment wasn't she? How far away was she from where the Bryants were abducted?

I think something sets him off.. the girl that bought him the baton online must have spent time with him alone. Why not kill her? Too obvious?
He's got to have some reason for choosing his victims..
the fact that Meredith had her dog with her makes it hard to believe that someone would think she was helpless, you would think he'd be afraid of the dog causing complications.

also it was said before that he didn't like other dogs (especially ones that were not well behaved)
Why would he let his dog play with Meredith's? sounds like he might have had the intent to kill someone that day, perhaps he was out of money?

I'm going to look at the dates of cases he potentially may have been involved in..is there a pattern?

also a thought about the Bryant case... lets say the killer kept John around so that he could get the ATM pin.

No offense to any women (as I am one myself) but wouldn't it make sense to keep the wife around, rather than the husband? She would be less likely to fight back, she was also older than her husband if I remember correctly.

I'm thinking that in the Bryant case, that the wife was killed right away because she was making that 911 call that never went through. She died from blunt force trauma to the head. She was found weeks later not far from where the Bryants car was found. I think the husband was taken away from the area in another vehicle after his wife was killed.

Maybe in Meredith's case, he began to creep her out so she asked him to leave her and Ella alone, and it pissed him off (rejection), so then he killed her?

The 911 Call was made the day after the Bryants left for the trail, right?
So they technically went missing October 22nd.

Oct 22, 2007 Bryants
Dec 1st, 2007 - Dunlap
October 22, 1997 - Frady
April 15, 2004 -Endres
Dec 29, 2007 - Bywater
Jan 1st, 2007 - Emerson
Anniversary killing? are there any other cases that may possibly link?

I think Barbara is either a defender of Hilton to a fault, or just wanted to keep Hilton on her good side since she had to deal with him on a daily basis. We all know what happens if you are on Hilton's bad side.

Cheryl Dunlap went missing on Dec 1st, 2007. Her card was used at the ATM on Dec 2,3 and 4.

Cayle Bywater went missing on Dec 29, 2007

I was listening to Q100, a local radio station this morning and they were talking about Meredith since she was an active listener of their morning show. According to her friends she was described as outspoken and feisty.....

Yes, it is said that Jenna was near where homeless people slept, or that the knife was found there, one or the other, not sure which. Both areas were in close proximity, though.

I have NO clue as to whether Jenna was found in the same part of NC as the Bryants, or whether there is some reason that Hilton can't be considered a suspect in her murder... Maybe the posters who live in NC can offer a more educated response about location and routes. I don't put any opportunistic murder past this creep.

JUSTICE FOR JENNA !!!
