Thanks for the link. I am happy they were able to find the van. I hope they find something that links him to some other crimes he is associated with.

That is great about the donations! It is exactly what Meredith would have wanted. (sigh) What a lovely person she seemed to be. I wish we had all been given the chance to know her. My heart just breaks for her family.

It's so sad that such a bright light was snuffed out by such a horrible, horrible man. It's all so senseless and it just makes me so angry that I, and women in general, cannot go about my business and enjoy life without worrying about trash like Hilton. While I am not a particularly religious person, I do pray that Meredith is in a better place and that having Ella brings her family some semblance of peace.

you are most welcome! I hope and pray that things go well at today's hearing so that Meredith's family can be spared any more agony...

IMO, he should only be allowed to plead guilty. Afterall, he did lead them to her body!

He abducted her for money, absolutely greedy and probably a pattern.
Not surprised.
What sickens me is he told her he would let her go and then killed her.

I'm glad he's been charged, and sentenced to LWOP BUT - I'm absolutely disheartened to know that she was abducted and lost her life over money. I'm sick of people working hard for what they have, for some low life loser, to attempt to take it away from them...GRRRRRRRRRRRr:furious:

Me too, I am just so, so sad about all of this.....but at least her parents will be spared a long and drawn out trial with awful details
...also, it is more likely that she was not sexually abused ( I am hoping) since **all** he wanted was money...
but the poor thing, I will just never forget about her, and how she suffered...

I love Meredith's mom. No wonder Meredith was such a bright beam of light to all. She completely dismissed Hilton as 'a bully and weak-minded coward, a pathetic shell of a man', and displayed such hope and fortitude and love for Meredith, saying, 'She is shining stronger and brighter than ever'. I wish all parents would hold their children in such a light as this family will always hold Meredith.

it's probably just me NNY, but I have a hard time entertaining the notion that he held her for three days and didn't engage in improprieties with her. I would be surprised if that were the case. I hope that is the case.

While his initial motive may have been for money, I've read reports where it is noted that Meredith allegedly gave GMH erroneous pin numbers to access her ATM. If true, this most likely enraged him and I shudder to imagine how she may have been punished by him (in the interim preceding her death).

You are right, Indigo, I am sure that poor Meredith suffered unimaginably...for certain she was cold, and probably had no food...
in no way was I trying to minimize this.....
and I am sure that he hurt her more when the PIN # was wrong...
but at least, his motive in kidnapping was not just to maim and torture ( I hope) he was not a Ted Bundy, but it seems ( as horrific as it is) that his means of living was KILLING the defenseless and stealing from them!!
Though it makes no sense to me, as he would have had Veterans $$$

I cannot imagine how awful it must be to bury a child who has been preyed upon by someone like GMH.......
