Hoping more families will have their loved ones returned home. Better late than never.

"Mary Clardy never knew her brother, Army Pfc. John Bowers. But this weekend she will bury him in Piedmont.

Clardy, 61, was born three years after her brother went missing during the Korean War.

For 64 long years, his family waited for him to return home.

"My mother was very emotional about it," Clardy said. "She always thought he would come home. Even to her death she always thought that one day he would just walk through that door."

This past Christmas Eve, his living relatives – Clardy and three siblings – received word that his remains had been identified. Thursday, his body will be returned to Greenville and on Saturday a small group of family and friends will gather to finally lay his body to rest.

He will be buried with full military honors."
