I would hope so, but after the failures I saw this week I wouldn't count on it.
Me too. Very shocked.
It makes it too easy for juries to just wash their hands and go home. If they are hopelessly deadlocked after about 4 or 5 days of trying then I can understand it but in this case I am afraid the judge wanted out of there more than the jury. He seemed to be rushing things every step of the way.
Ill never forget how when the Prosecuter asked him if she can play her presentation during closing when he shot her down and said NO you have taken too long as it is.
This was one of the most upsetting trials I have ever seen from a judicial procedural point of view. Very shoddy and mostly the judges fault IMO.
Perhaps that may very well have been a point for contention. Personally, I believe she drove herself to PTL. I believe her plan was to meet up with SM. I am probably in the minority of people who think the crime occurred after PTL. I truly believe she made plans to meet with SM, he came to PTL and she got in the truck willingly. I believe she turned off her phone (likely per his request) so that they would not be bothered/harassed by TM. I think the time in between his coming and going to PTL is too tight for the crime to occur there AND leave absolutely no evidence. The difference is, I don't really care where she was apprehended. The fact is HE is gone, missing, never to heard from, seen, tracked from that point forward. His stories were proven to be untrue from the beginning. There are entirely too many "coincidences" for it all to just be a "coincidence."
Yes, I have to admit that Nancy Livesay was pretty terrible as a prosecutor for a case of this magnitude. So how do we convey this to the Solicitor's office in a way that we will be heard?
Oh for God's sakes, I've been busy getting dressed for a a Gallery Walk downtown and have been checking every few minutes and then I find this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are many cases connected to Myrtle Beach and 99% of them are either dismissed or ends up this way. Disgraceful and pitiful.
Or at least two of them, anyway.Well I'm not a vindictive person but this time I must say, I hope the jury can not forget this trial for the entire weekend.:maddening:
Sidney wouldn't comment to WMBF after the trial today.

Doesn't surprise me, all along I felt the Prosecutor's closing was convoluted. Didn't matter how cute it may have sounded....creepin around in the middle of the night and repeating it constantly would not get a conviction.

Great post. I feel like I'm bad luck, too, because the only other trials I've followed were OJ's, Casey's and this one, and none were found guilty.
Based on your husband's feedback, maybe they need to focus less on PTL as the kidnapping spot and broaden it to just the time period, and it possibly being at LB.
Speaking of LB, I feel like we're soooo close to figuring out the timeline, but we're just not quite there.
Legal analyst in WBTW interview said Tammy should have been tried first ...
Those two factors (fishing buddy and juror friend) infuriate me. How is that justice? I remember when I had jury duty at that courthouse and a few potential jurors, who knew about one of the cases, were asked if they could be impartial. I just don't understand that. If a person has any ties to anyone in the case or has any knowledge of the case, that person has no business helping decide the outcome of the case. Don't ask them if they can be impartial. Thank them for their time and send them home. There were hundreds of people in that jury pool. Why did one of the TWELVE chosen have to be friends with the defense attorney? That is a miscarriage of justice. OOOOOOH, I'M MAD!That's because he thought how tight the judge was with his daddy and his attorney having a friend on the jury that he was gonna walk scott free. Would love to be a fly on the wall wherever SM and TM are tonight.
Me too. He treated her like carp in front of the jury daily in this trial. Did not treat the make attorney's that way?I wasn't a fan of the Solicitor who had the lead in this case - but based on her being able to get a 10-2 towards GUILTY - with the way the judge cut off her closing arguments and other things......I gotta giver her a little more credit then I did at the beginning of all of this.
Juror said because this was a circumstantial case, there were too many "what ifs". Hopelessly deadlocked.
