What was LE/State's reasoning behind not tracking the M's cell phone data and locations? Anyone? I don't recall hearing one... :thinking:

PTF, personally I think they have a lot of info on TM, I bet they know where she was that night. They have to have something on her to be able to charge her with Kidnapping.

Hopefully. But, what about for SM? Why didn't they have data to show where his phone was located in comparison to Heather's? If Heather's phone pinged at PTL, surely SM's would have too and at the same time, no?

I know that the prosecutor had some kind of slideshow at the end that was going to show some of that data before she got cut off, but I assume it was data already presented during the trial. I still would've like to have seen it.
I do agree with you, it seems like there would have been something.
However, IMO, if they knew to disable the navigational unit, they probably knew that their mobile phone location could be tracked.
Is tracking an iphone harder than tracking an android?

DId they? SM's phone was turned off up until 3am. If he travelled in his truck to PTL, he probably had it with him IMO.

Tracking a cellular device would be the same for any brand IMO.

The Navigational unit in the F150 had no activity in Horry County recorded on it since leaving the dealer. By default it will record everything, door opens/closes/location/etc.

Also, SM's phone was used from 1:09:45 AM until 1:13:49 AM EST and at 1:13:55 AM EST on 12/18/2013.

For iPhones it is buried lol!
I think it's under settings, privacy, location services, system services, frequent locations. It can be disabled. You can also turn on and off where you allow location to be tracked, i.e. With photos, maps, social media etc. or turn it off completely.

on your phone - bring up google maps
touch the three bars on the left hand side of the box where you would enter text to search
select Your Timeline

Just to clarify - IMO, I think that there is cell tower data, which can be used to tell what area a cell phone was in, but there is also location data available depending on what type of phone it is, and the configuration. This data is either on the phone itself, transmitted by the phone and stored somewhere (cloud/internet/google account), or both.
