"Balking at the judge" is a slippery slope. Judges can (and sometimes do) take out their ire and hurt egos on the side that is trying to go over them, get them recused, or other things that are done.

So then the state would be left with an even worse problem -- a judge that is already inclined to find fault with and humiliate the female solicitor(s), and then a really pissed off judge who will not take kindly to being forced to do or not do anything. The defense would have had an easier time of it than the state, but this judge is a loose cannon.

Thank you, that makes so much sense.

I sometimes have a Pollyanna view of the world. If the right thing is done everything falls into place and life rolls happily along for the person doing the right thing. Which, as shown in your post, is rarely the way things work with something like this.

Also I meant no disrespect with the monolog. My family is from the deep south. At least one extended family member would say something similar, excluding anything court related.

The family of Heather did try and get the judge to be recused some months back and well before SM's first trial. They had started an online petition. That ultimately went nowhere though they did get many signatures.

Madeline74 refresh my memory. The prior Judge on this case was Johns right? Why was he replaced with Dennis? I'm probably wrong but thought I recall it was to do with the perception he sided with the Elvis family?

Sonnet33, good post, and valid points. But the trial was televised, Dennis acted like a judicial azz in front of everyone. Did he forget the cameras were rolling? The handshake at the end of the trial, was the straw that broke the camel's back. The State acted like they were afraid to object or cross him. Very odd dynamic to watch.

We've waited long enough for this trial. All these postponements are frankly annoying. That girl needs justice.

Uggggg Why am I not surprised.

I really wish there was a plea deal of some sort that would put him behind bars for X number of years on the kidnapping charge. I just don't trust this judge at all. He came across very bias for the defense side to me.

I'd like to know more about the reason for the delay. I'm assuming the defense wants to wait until poor Sid is out of jail but I can only hope the prosecution is tying up some loose ends... I know, wishful thinking.
JMO, MOO, etc

The poor Elvis family. Justice seems to never come. I hope that changes down the road, including a conviction of TM as well.

Any news on a re-trial date for SM or the one for TM? I can't find any news anywhere.
