SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday morning that 35-year-old Robert Buskey pleaded guilty to causing the death of his five-year-old daughter, Charlotte Buskey. The Schenectady man initially pleaded not guilty in June 2024.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Robert Buskey is accused of not providing water and or food to the little girl between April 10th and April 14th.

Buskey lived in the downstairs apartment, and he used to fight all the time with a woman there, a neighbor said.

What appears to be Buskey’s Facebook page shows that he has a younger son. Police confirmed that.

“He had another child, a 3-year-old child, who is safe with other family members at this time,” Carroll said.

Under the plea agreement, Buskey will receive the maximum sentence allowed by law, 25 years to life for the murder conviction, plus an additional two years for the drug charge, for a total sentence of 27 years to life.

As part of the agreement, Buskey waived his right to appeal and an order of protection will be issued prohibiting him from any contact with his now 5-year-old son.

Buskey admitted that, under circumstances showing a depraved indifference to human life, he recklessly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of serious injury or death to his daughter, Charlotte, ultimately causing her death.
