JMO but the suspect sounds absolutely deranged and full of own self importance. Talk about a god complex!

Some elements of this case remind me of the Luigi insurance case - someone so inflamed with own ideals they feel they have the right to cold bloodedly murder another human just for having a particular job.

What a devastating weekend for the families involved, and how concerning for copycat attacks.

Some details:

The two shooting locations are a few miles away from each other in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, just north of Minneapolis.

Hoffman and his wife were shot around 2 a.m. in Champlin, Superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Drew Evans said.

After Hoffman was shot, officers were heading to pro-actively check on Hortman when they encountered the suspect at Hortman's home around 3:35 a.m., Evans said.

The officers found a person who was dressed as a police officer -- wearing a vest and a badge, and with a Taser and other equipment -- at the door, coming out of Hortman's house, police said.

The suspect fired at the officers; gunfire was exchanged and the suspect was able to escape and flee on foot, authorities said.

The suspect's vehicle -- which looked like a police vehicle, including police lights -- was in Hortman's driveway, authorities said.

The list included dozens of other Democrats from Minnesota, including Gov. Walz, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sen. Tina Smith and Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to law enforcement sources familiar wit sh the matter.

Law enforcement officials are looking into whether the suspect may have been motivated by extreme views on abortion, the sources said.

Security resources have been dispatched to protect those people named on the list, authorities said.

I wonder what made them make the leap to check on other potential victims starting with Hortman. Considering how many names of politicians were on that hitlist. I realize they weren't aware of a hitlist at that time but it does seem odd to me that they zeroed in on the very person who had also been shot.

Intro video of Vance Boelter. I can’t tell how old this video is.
According to his work background, he says he worked in the food industry for 30 years and while working for DelMonte, he had the opportunity to travel to the DRC in relation to food production issues in the DRC. He says he quit his job at Del Monte so he could continue his work in the DRC related to food production, which was volunteer work, it seems. So this guy had no job or income anymore. Maybe he tried to set up a security company in the DRC to pay his bills but that didn't work out for him, and also tried to do the same in the U.S. and that didn't work either - in the sense of being profitable and making enough money to live on. It sounds like he failed to find work or establish a business that was profitable. And even before that, it looks like he had quite a few jobs over that 30 years that he talked about working in the food industry.

He's now 57 years of age, likely with few prospects, if any, workwise. I'm guessing that this is the real reason behind his violence and targeting of elected officials who he blames for his personal failures.

Just keeps getting worse … that’s crazy.
Wasn’t Jesus and the New Testament all about leaving vengeance behind.

I do wonder as can often be the case in the grip of an ageing midlife crisis if financial activities weren’t going well, there was also a marital concern.

What person wakes up and thinks “this! This murder is what the world really needs!”

All JMOO

‘There was an extensive list of possible targets among writings found in Boelter's vehicle. The list included more than 50 individuals including officials outside of Minnesota, and including abortion rights advocates and abortion facilities.’

The site has a lot of traffic, but it looks like he was also potentially a pastor? He seems to have several different careers
Sounds like a jack of all trades master at none type of guy who jumps around from job to job and gets dissatisfied when things don't move as quickly as he wants. Either that or the companies release him because he obviously overinflates his qualifications.

Great post!

Evidently Vance Boelter wakes up that way …
Hopefully he’s caught without any further loss of life. That’s my concern right now, he fired on LE. That tells me he’s very, very, dangerous and ARMED with God knows what.

A shapeshifter who does what he thinks is required to get to his end goal.

This is going to be very interesting to watch unfold.

A sprawling manhunt has been underway all day, and residents within a 3-mile radius of Edinborough Golf Course in Brooklyn Park have been ordered to shelter in place.

Chopper 5 is flying over Boelter’s home in rural Sibley County near Green Isle, where an armored vehicle and drones were spotted outside.

Again, what a find. Where and when did he become a pastor?
No idea! I wonder if ‘pastor’ was being used colloquially? He said in that class intro video that he and his wife started independently working to bring food to the DRC, and missionaries are often asked to speak at church services in their mission field. All MOO/specualtion

Edit:grammar

I am wondering the same. To be called pastor in some denominations requires attending seminary school but not in all!
