SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

  • #581
Those around him had to know how he couldn't hold a job and was so wildly out of touch with reality, whether due to mental illness, drugs, or whatever. It's very sad that people with such issues can so easily acquire weapons. He's the poster child for red-flag laws.

Yet everyone who knew him - thus far, has said no red flags!! This has taken every one of them by surprise. No one saw it coming. Not one.

These ones?

I have to bow out the conversation now.

Regular parking would have delayed the discovery.
Why the breadcrumbs?
It is peculiar but I think the context is, he didn't leave it at home. So in that sense, he did hide it. 5 minutes away.

Suggests to me he walked home from there, possibly transferring cash, and leaving with new supplies, disguises, etc, that is if he left in a vehicle.

KARE11 live reported that LE had the cowboy hat image and knew what VLB was driving because of bank cctv from that morning but did not release some of that information until later.

Presumably LE knows if he's gained access to another car, maybe they're just not sharing that with the public just yet.

I fear they'll spend days searching for him only to learn he has been deceased for days.

I hope they find him alive. MN doesnt have a death penalty but with federal charges, he'll be staring at it.

Per Kare11 news, LE in tactical gear and K-9s have exited the woods in the area surrounding where the Buick was found and are slowly entering their vehicle.

I think the area in the KARE11 video is looking south right at the intersection where you see the "2 min 2.3 miles" indicator on this map, just up 301st a bit, maybe a hundred yards or so. Highway 25 is closed and is the blue line on this map. I think he might have moved south through the wooded area down towards Rivers Edge Concrete.

By starting one's own company.
Have you been able to find if he's a founder of Red Lion Company? I'm failing at a deep dive into his CV.

He slipped away again? I guess I didn’t give this guy enough credit, initially I thought I’d wake up to news of a capture this morning. It’s going to be dark in a couple hours, still not caught!

I am wondering the same thing. I can't tell if he is trying to get away and throw them off or is kind of playing a sick game. The cowboy hat on the side of the road was egregious to me.
Yeah, I don't think he's clever that way.

I think he ditched the car, then tossed the hat. No great mystery, no clever ploy, no misdirection.

If it is he who ditched that car, he either left there on foot, or in another vehicle. Maybe he hiked out of there, due south on 301st avenue, across 25, and straight down a farm lane there to a wooded area that appears to have the beginnings of a stream that winds south down to the Minnesota river. That's a wild theory, but walking in water can confound canine searches.

Or, he's local to where that car was ditched, hiding in a local barn, silo, grain shed, wooded area, or such...though a good canine team would likely be able to track that scent. He could be dead of suicide somewhere in a radius of where that car was found.

Or, he's been picked up by a collaborator, who took him in another vehicle out of the area. If he's a smart dude, and had some fore planning, this would be the top scenario...other than walking away from that area, and maybe getting picked up on the Minnesota River Valley Scenic byway.

He's definitely local. Not very far from the family home at all.

That's my guess too. I think he's either dead by suicide, or on foot and hiding til nightfall, or already moved south or otherwise out of the immediate area.

Agree.
I also thought he was making for the river before I started thinking he has help, someone came to get him.

This might be helpful:

What is the Red Lion Group? Minnesota shooting suspect Vance Boelter calls himself its CEO

From above article:

What is Red Lion Group?

Praetorian Guard Security Services wasn't listed on the LinkedIn profile that has his name and photo. But Boelter calls himself on the social media platform a CEO of a company called "Red Lions Group," though he was currently open to work. It's not clear what the company did. The website linked to his LinkedIn profile for Red Lion Group is currently down.

I think he might have been suffering from mental health issues and playing pretend with his occupational/career life. They don't come across as legitimate businesses. Completely my opinion.

If he's in and out of jobs, he's also in and out of access to health care. Its hard for anyone to know someone is mentally ill if they don't interact with the health care system. Cradle to grave health care coverage goes a long way towards helping identify and treat people with mental health problems.

His mental health issues have probably gone undiagnosed or not properly treated.

Under what protocol would a funeral home employee have the rights to a dead person's eyeballs? All of that would have been sorted out at the hospital with organ donors, right? I saw that tidbit yesterday, maybe you guys have resolved that gruesome image.
I actually sought out the source of the statement ,immediately regretted it.

Cameras are different so the woods near the abandoned Buick are well in the background in StreetView as per link...

Note mailbox in the foreground has same number as that KARE11 reporter was standing beside even though google indicates a 30k number as the address. View is from West of 301st Ave and the woods are near 301st; actual position of the parked car was about 150 yards S. of SH 25.

I wonder how he acquired that vehicle. He had to break into his own car so safe bet his keys were left in the security vehicle he left behind.

Perhaps LE believed, at least for a time, that he may have been traveling with the Buick owner.

Will be interesting to learn whose car it was, if not his.

I disagree. That view is looking west, toward 301st, and the vehicle was north of 25 on 301st.
