MN - Alex Pretti dead after Minneapolis shooting involving immigration agents, US media report, January 24, 2026

They are operating in Texas and many other places that don't get the attention that Minneapolis is getting. This article says state and local authorities are assisting ICE in Texas, so I think it's possible they aren't getting attention there because ICE is able to operate, make arrests, and move on.

IMO
Or maybe ICE agents there are not overwrought people acting in their own real life Call of Duty video game. Maybe they carefully investigate, call on people in small groups or pairs, act politely......there could be all manner of differences in approach. Texas has probably got LE who are familar with immigration and that many overstayers are not criminals in the usual sense of the word. (Some are and let's get them out quickly but a six year old boy???)

The fact that a Supreme Court (?) judge has paid particular attention to the poor ways that ICE has been operating in Minneapolis may tell us something too.

From the link: The ICE facility houses parents and children taken into federal custody over alleged violations of immigration law.

Thinking of little Liam who looked sick on his trip back to Minnesota today. And, of course, all the other little ones who are NOT AT HOME but possibly sick in a dentention center.

At best, they were looking for the weapon they thought was still on him so they could secure it to give him medical aid.

At worst, and I what I think is most likely, they realized that something had gone very wrong on their part and they were panicking, hoping the gun was underneath him so they could say “see, he had a gun pulled out, we were justified!”

IMO

Edit to prevent misunderstanding:

It’s clear that the gun was removed from Alex before they shot him, I was just responding to what I thought was going through the agents’ minds when they were doing that.
I did read they were trying to retrieve bullets? Why was someone in that ICE group using non-approved bullets?

Good news (hope it's true):
In a statement, Castro’s spokesperson added that Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, had a full medical exam and would not have been released if there was any risk of exposure.

But for others still at the detention center, there is “unreliable access to medical care and a negligent disregard for babies, kids, women and men when they are sick and suffering.”

Clearly part of the ICE training is concentrating on making sure they don't act as humans in the aftermath of any ICE initiated melee. These are the words of people who have switiched off or been trained to switch off any part of them that wants to see fellow humans as human.
"There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example,” said Oats. “And what do they think? Against it, are they?” said Granny Weatherwax.
“It’s not as simple as that. It’s not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of gray.”
“Nope.”
“Pardon?”
“There’s no grays, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is."
“It’s a lot more complicated than that . . .”
“No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
“Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes . . .”
“But they starts with thinking about people as things . . . "
