From the University of Illinois student newspaper reporting on Illini Republicans post on Instagram.

Just when you think you can't be more disgusted.

Columbia Heights is a suburb of Minneapolis and the district where little Liam goes to school. Other students at that school have also been taken into detainment. And now:

Schools in Columbia Heights are closed on Monday as authorities look into a threat.

Columbia Heights Public Schools announced just after 6:30 a.m. that no students or staff should report to school on Monday.

The district said the closure is “out of an abundance of caution, due to a credible threat.”

No info about what the threat is. My hunch is school officials spotted ICE? If so, that seems especially cruel after the relief everyone feels that Liam is back in Minnesota.

Whatever the credible threat is, it's cruel, of course. I hope it turns out to be a false alarm, but people are on edge, understandably, imo.

EDITED to add: all clear.

Lawmakers are calling for an independent investigation into immigration enforcement tactics in Minnesota as members of the Trump administration face scrutiny over claims they've made

They certainly have a sense of entitlement and protection if they are so bold as to post something like this. IMO this is how the KKK used to operate, with the hoods off.

I need to revise part of my earlier opinion after watching the clearest video we have several more times.
Alex was not on his stomach. But when it comes to weapon access, I still don’t see any evidence that he was reaching for or holding a weapon when the shots began. By that point, agents are already on him. He appears to be on the ground with his chest on, or very close to, the pavement, and there are multiple agents on top of him. From what I can see, they’re restraining his upper body and likely his hands.
With that many agents holding him down, I don’t see how he could have been reaching for another weapon.
No way this was justifiable.
He was shot 10 times. If he wasn't fully on his stomach for the first shot, he soon was. And the shots kept coming.

Looks like it was a bomb threat. ?!

That district has been through enough, and someone made a bomb threat? Cruel, shameful under any circumstances, but especially when feeling are so raw now.

The Columbia Heights Police Department said officers did not find anything suspicious at the schools after receiving the threat.

Thankful for the all-clear. Thoughts are with the nervous staff and families. Can't imagine the strenth to provide a normal school day in these ongoing circumstances.

Yes, I can see that. Just awful. The associations that image evokes for me are shocking; scenes from the Labyrinth (Franco) and Downfall (German language about the last days of Third Reich). I mean viscerally the message is quite straightforward IMO; 'we support state sanctioned summary executions of 'traitors' (ergo Mr Pretti imo). These people are sick. Moo.

This is an interesting article to ponder, regarding holding federal agents accountable, like the agents who shot Alex. For those who like legal details and tactics, please read the article - and put your thinking caps on first because it's complicated, imo. Here are a few snippets, bbm:

“It’s an enormous problem that federal officials are in some ways the hardest people to hold accountable for violating people’s constitutional rights" ...

The Supreme Court tried to address the gap in 1971 in Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents, allowing the victim of an unconstitutional search by federal agents to sue them. But the court has essentially abandoned that approach, saying instead that Congress must act if suits against federal officials are to be allowed. ...

“States can’t just generally regulate ICE conduct, because the federal government gets to regulate that,” he said. “But states can provide remedies against federal officials when federal officials violate federal constitutional rights.”

Replying to myself as I think about this.

The shooting of Alex Pretti hits at the core of who we are as a nation: All the branches of the Federal government (executive, judicial, legislative) as laid out in the Constitution, plus State rights, plus individual rights guarenteed in the Bill of Rights.

Overwhelming, tbh.

My wish is that people would brush up on their American history, especially the 1770s. Now would be a good time to do it, imo.

That's all.

No. You really did post a fake image! It was created by liars who are trying to push a fake narrative.

Pretti was shot in the back and had no ability whatsoever with seven agents on him to attempt to get up off the ground. Please, I'm telling you now you're accidentally perpetuating a fake narrative with a fake image.
The picture was removed
