That kstp link says Pierre Collins claims he is entirely innocent and had nothing to do with his son's murder.

I think he's going to keep saying that, despite any evidence they find. I don't see this man admitting what has happened.

I think the 'last' Wisconsin wife wanted to do a stepmother adoption of Barway BACK WHEN THEY WERE MARRIED, and Pierre would continue to be bio' dad. In MN, child support/county attorney wouldn't agree to let bio' dad 'off the hook' for child support unless the stepparent-proposed-new-parent had money in their pockets to provide amply for the financial support of the child - if proposed-stepparent was indigent, the county attorney would 'oppose' an adoption.

Thanks for your post, Damarna - very informative and so helpful !! All I know is that I live near where Barway lived, and after the disappearance, twice I drove to the apartment complex and around the parking lot on purpose twice, and then, coincidentally when the first 'tw_ _ t' came in about the child's body being found in the Mississippi River, I deliberately drove the route from Barway's apartment to the river, and back. IMO, I see a lot of lower middle class/lower class/poverty stricken West African-seeming person living in many smaller, older '3 story' type apartment buildings, and I just think MN takes care of people with good food stamp benefits and terrific health care and wonderful schools and gorgeous libraries, parks, trails, community centers everywhere - imo. I have further detailed reason to know community Liberians (and Somalians, and Nigerians) on a 1-to-1 basis, and these connections add to my opinion.

I am an eligibility worker for a county in MN. Believe you me, no one in MN is getting ample financial benefits. It just isn't happening. I see many immigrant families living on less than $20/week for families of 6 plus. That barely buys toilet paper. I hate the insinuation that MN has these great financial benefits. The truth is that they are hard to qualify for and no one gets to be a baller on the state's dime. Just doesn't happen. Most are barely surviving.

"A 2 p.m. news conference at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis will feature an unusually extensive lineup of Twin Cities law enforcement officials — County Attorney Mike Freeman, Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering, Sheriff Rich Stanek, FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Rich Thornton, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Wade Setter and others."

I defer to your greater knowledge, of course !! All I say is meant in good will and reflects what I observe. I will say, too, that I am 'a day person', so I am not at all familiar with late day or evenings scenes around town...

In downtown Minneapolis, yes, there is homelessness, and shelters for the homeless. Free meals all day long all over the place. Yes, poverty. Yes, despair, 100 year old plus tenements with no a/c - - I've seen it with my own eyes. Yes, dirty, scared illegal migrant workers. IMO, great free food available everywhere in the city, all 3 meals. Fabulous health care available at all times, and available to everyone. St. Stephen's 24 hour outreach helpers walking the streets with food and blankets 24-7: http://ststephensmpls.org/sites/default/files/so-trifold-14-0207.pdf. Gorgeous main library: http://www.morgansheffphotography.com/data/photos/221_1peli_small_scaler.jpg City police now carry packs of food and basic grooming products and blankets.

In the area of Barway's apartment complex: Yes, poverty, but nothing awful or horrific IMO !

Yes, I know there is some very sad 'stuff' locally; of course, I've seen a bit of it.

I just read a startribune update that says 'charges have been filed' - - does that mean Pierre Collins has already appeared before a judge? It says the 2 pm press conference is still a 'go'.

UPDATE OF 2 mins. ago

Startribune.com now says Pierre Collins has been charged - that part is done. Note: I am not clicking into their website, because I think if you click in over 'so many times' (5?10?) in a month, they cut you off until the next month...

Oh, wow, how very sad. And this is only the statement of probable cause to arrest ! I wonder what more we will learn - the dear little child taped up with duct tape. Oh, puts me in prayer... Our God: Please bless and hold that dear little innocent child.... thank you, Lord.
