Gunman in Halloween mask kills customer, injures server at Bloomington restaurant

A man who was inside the restaurant said the gunman, who was wearing an old man Halloween mask and a maroon hoodie, first came in and flashed a gun. A group of customers wrestled the man outside twice before he came back in a third time, when he fired a warning shot before shooting and killing a 49-year-old man who was a regular at the restaurant.

A 25-year-old server was also shot twice. He is expected to survive.

Fatal shooting at Bloomington restaurant under investigation

The Bloomington Police Department said officers were dispatched just before 1:20 p.m. for a report of a shooting at Co Tu Oriental Cuisine Restaurant on West 89th Street and Penn Avenue South.

People inside the restaurant pushed the gunman out of the building twice, but the gunman entered a third time and started shooting.

Suspect in shooting at Bloomington restaurant arrested in Oklahoma

The man, a 47-year-old from Texas, was arrested in Oklahoma around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the Bloomington Police Department.

Bloomington police said the suspect fled the scene in a Mercedes van, the same one he was driving when he was arrested. He is being held in an Oklahoma jail.

IMO
I'm stunned! Old man Halloween mask with a gun. Customers wrestling him and he comes back in the 3rd time and shots 2 people. That was at Wednesday Nov 23 at 1:20pm and then Thursday Nov 24 at 12:30am. Sounds like the suspect went straight down south highway 35 and was arrested off 35 about the exact same time it would take to drive it. So fast! Hope the victims get justice.

Charges allege Aaron Le shot two at Bloomington restaurant because of jealousy over ex

Authorities allege a man accused of shooting two men inside a Bloomington restaurant last week did so because one of the men was seeing his ex-wife.

Aaron Le, 47, is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder, Hennepin County court documents show. The Bloomington Police Department plans to hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Monday regarding the shooting.

Investigators said surveillance footage showed a man, not Le, enter and exit the restaurant while watching the 49-year-old man. According to the complaint, this man watched the shooting through the window. He has not been identified or found.

The footage then showed the shooter enter the restaurant and approach the 49-year-old's table, where he was sitting with another man. After the shooter pulled out a gun, several patrons chased him out of the restaurant, but he returned and brandished the gun again. This time, bystanders tried to wrestle the gun away from him, but he shot the 49-year-old multiple times, the complaint states. He also shot the 25-year-old server, who was hospitalized for his wounds.

Investigators also said there was an FBI report filed in August about a "contract to kill" call between Le, the 49-year-old and Le's ex-wife.

Authorities tracked Le's cellphone to Oklahoma, where he was pulled over and arrested in Kay County. He had two body armor vests in his van and blood on his clothing, the complaint states.

Le remains in custody in Oklahoma.

IMO
I'll report back after presser. beyond strange with FBI contract to kill call. I've never heard of that before.

New details revealed in Bloomington restaurant shooting that killed Prior Lake man - Bring Me The News

snippets:

Tu Anh Phan, 49, of Prior Lake, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday.

Criminal charges filed Monday allege Le targeted Phan because he believed Phan had begun a romantic relationship with Le's ex-wife.

However, Le's ex-wife has told investigators she's never had a relationship with Phan, according to Hodges. Le, Phan, and Le's ex-wife attended college together.

Hodges also clarified another detail noted in Monday's criminal complaint, which stated the FBI had investigated a "murder for hire" tip related to Le, Phan and Le's ex-wife.

According to Hodges, Le made an unsubstantiated accusation to federal authorities that Phan and Le's ex-wife were plotting to kill him.

The attack inside the restaurant unfolded in approximately two minutes, according to new details provided by Hodges.

Because Le allegedly wore a Halloween face mask during the attack, few details about the shooter's appearance were known in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

According to criminal charges, Le kept both of his firearms inside a plastic bag during the attack. Hodges said this step was likely taken to reduce DNA evidence and prevent shell casings from being left at the scene.

"He took every single precaution you could think of to not get caught for his cold-blooded murder he did," Hodges said.

Investigators also believe Le experienced a weapons malfunction in the seconds before he fatally shot Phan and injured a 25-year-old man.
