For some reason I cannot access that site, but if it is true it was the wrong address, this lad did not have a chance.
A wrong address and because of that an officer who used the wrong weapon, killed him and then said 'Oh ****, I shot him' like that was the only explanation needed. I say that when I mistake all purpose flour for cake flour.
The relevant paragraphs, trying not to exceed the 10% limit here

Gannon said Monday that Wright was initially stopped after officers saw his car’s tabs were expired. After officers ran his name, they found an outstanding gross misdemeanor warrant.
The one outstanding warrant for Wright's arrest, Hennepin County authorities confirmed, was issued after the young man failed to appear for a hearing on April 2. The court date was to deal with a gross misdemeanor charge dating to last summer, when Wright allegedly got caught carrying a pistol without a permit and fled from a peace officer.

rthur Martinez, a public defender who represented Wright, said he believed his client had never received notice of the scheduled appearance—and said that the court had not informed him either.

“He obviously didn’t get it, and no one notified me, and a date came up for April 2nd for 2:30 in the afternoon, and him not knowing about it, didn’t show up, and there was a warrant issued for his arrest,” said Martinez, who shared an image of the warrant with The Daily Beast that shows that the judge set bail at a $3,000 bond or $500 in cash.

“That’s how not serious this is: it’s a $500 bail. This wasn’t a $50,000 bail. This isn’t something where he allegedly did something violent to someone,” he said. “It’s not even a felony. It’s a gross misdemeanor. To tase or shoot somebody is insane.”

The HCDC said they had sent warrant to his home address and it was not returned but refused to comment on whether they had notified his attorney (paraphrasing this bit)

His aggravated robbery case had no outstanding warrants and was due to go ahead in August.

These are the facts that have been misrepresented.
His lawyer was unaware of the zoom hearing, he was apparently unaware of it and the bit I've been trying to figure out all day is whether his lawyer is notified at the same time as himself routinely in MN and through what means. Looks like neither of them received the date. And that is the gist of the story as far as anybody knows.
And if all that pans out to be the truth he genuinely had no knowledge that he had missed a court zoom appearance which may be why he went to sit back in his vehicle on foot of the warrant he knew nothing about, could have known nothing about cos even his attorney knew nothing about it..

He had complied with all that was required of him under his obligations to fulfil requirements of the alleged armed robbery case.
And this is really what the public needs to be told.

Thanks for that.
BBM. They will not believe it though, the continual posting of his record is enough for me to come to the conclusion that because he had allegedly committed a crime, is enough excuse for that officer to kill him.

This arrest was for some serious chit. MOO
No argument there but when you read the charging sheet you will find he did not actually get the money from the girl and the weapon resembled a real gun.
That case was to come to trial in August '21 and he had met all his obligatory legal responsibilities to date.
There were no outstanding warrants for this case.

The outstanding warrant was for a different case but it has been misrepresented in media as being for the big case.

It does not matter who believes anything at all.
They do what they do, we do what we do.
The facts are all that matter.
You can present them to the best of your ability and current knowledge, you can't control what others do with them.
And you walk away then, for your own sanity.

I’m not convinced he met his legal responsibilities in the attempted armed robbery/assault case.

Daunte Wright accused of choking and robbing woman at gunpoint, had arrest warrant

Wright was arrested and later released on $100,000 bail. As a condition of his release, he was not to have contact with the victim or witnesses, had to refrain from drugs and alcohol, and could not possess a firearm.

Wright’s bail was revoked in July because he allegedly possessed a firearm and was not keeping in touch with his probation officer, according to documents obtained by Fox News.

What documents?
Where are they located?
Where is the evidence his bail was revoked?

ETA link.
Fox news misrepresented the date of the alleged attempted robbery which was actually in 2019, as being in the past 6 weeks
Had his bail been revoked, it would have happened immediately, I imagine.

Sorry, disagree with you. This site is to discuss crime.
It is also a "victim friendly site".
Discussing a known truth, is simply that.

I dont know, but I was taught 'If you have nothing good to say, say nothing'. It is obvious why negatives are posted in these cases. It is to blame the victim for his own death.

As I was answered on another subject that the link I posted was not trustworthy, so not to be believed, is exactly what I think about Fox News, run by Rupert Murdoch who had his right wing newspaper shut down in the UK for hacking into a little girl who had been abducted, raped and murdered's phone, giving her frantic loved ones hope that she was still alive somewhere.
Also, published fake pictures of UK troops abusing POWs.

According to the Mn court records he pled guilty to a petty misdemeanor of possession/sale of a sm amount of marijuana Aug 6th 2019. He didn't pay the fines or fees and did not appear for that charge. The fees are still showing as due and were ultimately sent to a collection agency.

On Aug 11th, 2019,he pled guilty to a petty misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and failed to pay the fines and fees for that charge and failed to appear for that charge. A warrant was issued on Nov 19th 2019 for that charge.

He seems to have a pattern of not knowing about court dates.

Victim friendly? So who do you think the victim is here? The dead young man or the officer who did not know what weapon she was wielding?

I posted the dailymail link in response to a different post.
The dailymail misrepresented the reason for his warrant as being the 2019 crime, which it was not at all.

Really? And for that his killing was justified?

  • #573
I've not seen anybody here justifying his death. At this early point, to me, it appears to be accidental.

Does that justify his death?

See my post up thread. A warrant was issued on Nov 19th 2019 for the disorderly conduct charge in 2019 according to the Mn court records site.

That is justifying it. You do not accidentally aim your gun at someone and pull the trigger. Do you really want us to believe that a 26 year police veteran did not know that she was firing a gun?

Look on the MCRO site that you just linked.

ETA - They sent a ‘Notice of Hearing’ and got a return mail.

Daunte Wright was facing attempted robbery case when killed by cop
"Police said the officers then determined Wright had an outstanding warrant related to his bail violations and sought to arrest him — but he broke away and got back in the car."

"Daunte Wright had an open warrant related to an armed robbery case against him when he was shot dead Sunday by a cop who claimed she thought she was firing her Taser, court records show."

But did that justify shooting him dead? She says that she thought she was firing her taser even though she has had 26 years of experience? Can you honestly believe that? And if so, why? However many times you post of his past crimes and accusations (not tried and found guilty of) does it ever justify killing a young man?
