That's creepy.

I hope they're searching the area to see if a bird or animal pulled it from a shallow grave or something.

Unless you drug the body in by foot, it wouldn't be the wisest area to transport a body to dispose of it. Because it's a state park, the entrance appears to be monitored, and the exit lane is blocked by a gate. Not sure what they do at night, but I can't imagine they just leave it open.

There doesn't appear to be anyone recently missing from the area, either.

Mystery, theories abound in severed-finger case
Investigators haven’t been able to determine the origin of two severed fingers that were found last month at a local campsite, but they say there are a few new theories.

Melissa and Monty Atkinson were setting up at a Red River State Recreation Area campsite May 26 when their 6-year-old found the two fingers on a picnic table. They called law enforcement, and East Grand Forks police Lt. Rodney Hajicek is trying to determine where they came from.

No match in the statewide database, so they're now doing a DNA test. Cadaver dogs searched the area and found nothing. The only theory is whether they could be connected to a nearby fireworks accident in late April.

The fireworks accident sounds about right if the person in the accident lost fingers or part of his hand. Anywhere close to that table an animal could have drug it to top of the table. A skunk or Possum or raccoon are all animals that could have drug it to top of picnic table after finding it.

Other animals could have too.
