MN - Fanta Xayavong, 33, last seen with accused killer, possibly in Shoreview, July 2021 *found deceased in storage unit in 2023* *POI named*

A bit of details about Fanta being reported missing:

A tipster who reported a Minnesota woman missing before her body was found in a storage unit last week said he tried to get her help for a drug addiction but was threatened by a man whom authorities have identified as a person of interest in her case, law enforcement documents show.

The guy tried to get her help and Jorgenson threatened him.

“JORGENSON threatened to kill him,” the documents say, adding that the tipster provided text messages showing the threats.

The tipster, who didn’t respond to a request for comment, described Jorgenson as “very abusing” toward Xayavong, according to the documents.

Both girls were struggling with addiction, both were on the verge of going to treatment, and both were killed by Jorgenson before they could.
That friend said Xayavong struggled with drug addiction and attempted to get her into rehab, but Jorgenson threatened to kill him.

That tip came in as investigators were already searching for Starren, who vanished in April.

Similar to Xayavong, Starren's father said his missing daughter struggled with drug addiction, and told investigators "she was supposed to go into a drug treatment center, but never showed up."

A bit from Fanta's family, who actually donated to Mani's family:

Two families are now forever linked by tragedy. Xayavong's family donated to Starren's with this message: "On behalf of the Xayavong family, we would like to send our deepest condolences. With so much love and appreciation, we are able to put our little sister to rest."

And they aren't ruling out there still possibly being others...

Police say they can't rule out Jorgenson being connected to other missing women.

A little about Fanta:

Rocky Graziano Jr., who was married for a time to one of Xayavong’s older sisters, recalled her as a light spirit who loved to laugh and joke around with family. He first met her when she was about 14.

“She was a sweetheart. She was like my little sister,” he said Friday. “She had one of the greatest smiles.”

And a bit of her background:

Her family, who was originally from Laos, lived in North Minneapolis before moving to a house in Apple Valley that he helped fix up for them. When Xayavong’s mother died in 2010, Graziano recalled her eldest sister stepping into the motherly role over the six children, of which Xavayong was the youngest daughter.

In case people know anyone else who could be missing and related:

Police asked on Friday that anyone who has information regarding Jorgenson and other people who may be missing to contact the BCA tipline at 877-996-6222 or bca.tips@state.mn.us. It’s not known whether there could be other cases linked to him, Ernster said.

Notes about the tipster in Fanta's cases:

“We don’t know and I think that’s the part that we want to know,” Ernster said. “… This started as a simple tip, somebody that cared for somebody and made that phone call and it led to (Xayavong’s) discovery. Unfortunately, she was deceased. Hopefully, … somebody can call and we can get ahead of this curve.”

A Minnesota man pleaded guilty Thursday to killing and dismembering two women whose bodies were found in different storage units.

Under his plea deal, Joseph Steven Jorgenson, 41, of Woodbury, is expected to be sentenced Feb. 28 to two 40-year terms for the deaths of Manijeh Starren in 2023 and Fanta Xayavong in 2021, prosecutors said.

In the courtroom, Jorgenson described the murders in gruesome detail while expressing no emotion. He confessed to beating Xayavong to death while intoxicated, then dismembering her body and hiding the remains in a Coon Rapids storage unit.
Jorgenson faces up to 40 years in prison for each murder charge, with the sentences expected to be served concurrently.

Jorgenson told court officials he and Xayavong were living together in a townhome in Shoreview in 2021. Around Sept. 1 of that year, they got into an argument, and he began beating her. At one point, he thought she had gone unconscious, so he checked her vitals and realized she was deceased.

“I felt bad about [the murder] immediately afterward, but it was my intent at the time to kill her,” he told the judge Thursday.

Jorgenson then dismembered Xayavong’s body and moved it to a storage unit in Coon Rapids.

A plea deal. For this guy.

I'm no expert so maybe i'm not informed & maybe some places they do, but plea deals should require the details be made public, details regarding why a plea deal was necessary. Specifics of the compromise. Did they not have enough evidence after 2 dismembered women were found in his storage units? The admission is worth giving the perp the satisfaction of still having some control of his destiny?

"As part of the plea deal, the state agreed to dismiss a third case in which he was charged with arson, threats of violence and disarming an officer when law enforcement executed a search warrant at his apartment in connection to Starren’s disappearance."

“Violence Free Minnesota hopes that the perpetrator’s admission of guilt provides some measure or semblance of comfort for Fanta and Manijeh’s loved ones."

Well Violence Free Minnesota, keep hoping. Loved ones take what they can get while you explain away failing the survivors, the community, the true spirit of justice and then twist it as P.R. to pat yourselves on the back.

They couldn't even muster 2 life sentences.

Now he's off to live out the rest of his natural life on the taxpayer's dime.

Fullest extent of the law. What does that mean anymore? Pray you never have to find out.

Joseph Jorgenson, 41, appeared in a Ramsey County courtroom and remained expressionless while describing in detail the murder and dismemberment of Fanta Xayavong, 33, and Manijeh “Mani” Starren, 33, NBC affiliate KARE of Minneapolis reported.

Jorgenson faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison for each of the killings, according to petitions he filed with the court. Those sentences will be served concurrently, the petitions show.

Jorgenson is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 28.
