Why? Because he could. Because the crowd was begging him to stop. Because he was on a vengeful power trip. Because he showed everyone, the “crowd” and his colleagues, what a big, tough, in-charge man he is. Because he IS sadistic. Because he is lacking an iota of compassion or consideration for the life of another human being.

He’s a sick man. I believe he’s not sorry at all, except that he got caught committing murder.

Exactly. There were 4 other armed officers on scene. I highly doubt Chauvin was worried about his safety. He was perched very casually on Floyd and looked to be rather enjoying his position of power.

Chauvin's body language and 'uh ha' responses to Floyd's pleas for relief suggest he rather enjoyed inflicting pain. One of the bystanders said as much. He certainly lacked empathy. Makes me cringe.

Actually I think that's how I would describe it. Malicious and sadistic. They seemed to get a certain satisfaction out of the crowd's reaction knowing they were helpless to do anything. They told them, "this is what happens when you do drugs," and asked Floyd in a disgusted tone, "What are you on," while he pleaded with them. It seemed like a pointless question, given that he was in distress and they didn't plan on giving him medical assistance anyway.

If they were really concerned about his being dangerous to others or himself due to drugs, they could have called for an ambulance right away. Or at least put him in the recovery position sooner. He needed help, not harm.

I guess these are the points and perspectives not everyone agrees on. Which I respect.

Ah thanks I'm pleased you transcribed this because at the time I thought the witness said GF was resting comfortably!
Well, he said he "should" have been, but he was still partially non-compliant because of the way his arm was positioned. I'm not sure how he thought Floyd would have been able to move his arm at that point. I'm not even sure he saw any of the video evidence, going by his testimony.

Wow, I go have a small nap and it took me forever to catch up! Still listening to end of cross!

The document dump...Idon't think it was 50,000 all at once, but it went from 41k up to 50k, still seems unreasonable to be doing that the night before testimony.

Not sure if anyone else caught it, but at the end of the day, judge wanted lawyers in chambers to deal with a 'security' issue
