Hello everyone. I'm new here but have been reading old threads and am finally caught up (almost). The 25th anniversary was the first time I heard about this case. This case has me completely baffled and frustrated to absolutely no end. (I'm sure you all can definitely relate!) But it also pulled at my heart and made me extremely sad. I think after all this time, the Wetterlings deserve to know what happened.

Anyway, please take a look at this article that came out in May. http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/...-revealed-in-jacob-wetterling-abduction-case/ I'm sure most of you have seen it. But while I was waiting for my account to be activated, I was re-reading the article and I found the comment posted a month ago by someone named Mazy VERY interesting. I honestly think this could be a potential break in the case. I had chills just reading that comment. Unfortunately her uncle has died so he couldn't be interviewed but surely DR could be?! I mean, it has to be his farm the commenter is talking about, right? This would also make sense as to why the abductor asked the boys their ages. He needed someone of a certain age.

I'm really sorry if this has been posted already. I skimmed the posts from the past month and I didn't see anything. I will go back and read through the last thread now. But perhaps THIS is why DR is a person of interest. Maybe LE knows he had a guest or suspects it. I honestly think this is a huge lead that needs to be investigated.
I don't see a comments section. Where is it?

I had the same problem. It didn't come up on my phones browser, but when I used my desktop computer the comment section showed up at the bottom. Here is the comment-

"at the time of this abduction, my uncle was in Minneapolis as a businessman with a known history of transporting male juveniles across state line for prostitution. the FBI had looked into him years earlier, way before Jacobs abduction and because of his contacts in government and hollywood they were unable to do anything but follow him. the night jacob disappeared he called a family member and stated he was in St. Joe visiting a friend of his that had a farm. He never called before like that and we thought it was weird. Then, we saw the news about Jacob and I called every listed missing children number i could find to give them info about my uncle. Since that time my uncle has died (thank the Lord). There was a group of young men that were supported by my uncle over the years, put through college, given jobs at his company, etc. My uncle owned a motor home and would travel throughout the US at different times of the year, Key West, San Francisco, New England, Wisconsin, etc."

"At one time we thought there was a report of a motorcycle involved. ? Does anyone know? my uncle had a motorcycle."

Mazy, how old would you uncle be now. Was he ever convicted on any case?

Mazy isn't on WS, Pwesterner just pointed out the comment from 'Mazy' on the article.

VERY interesting. ELOC or any other sleuthers...have you come across May's uncle in your research? ??

I really wish there was a way to contact her and urge her to provide her uncle's information to LE. Someone out there has important information whether they know it or not, and I feel like this could be exactly one of those situations. I have a feeling that this is a huge lead. She said she called in various missing children's numbers to tell them about her uncle. I really hope LE was informed and they checked into this and it wasn't a tip that just slipped through the cracks.

You can go to that site and reply directly to her comment. I personally would recommend that she report it in writing, include all the relevant information, to both Stearns Co and the FBI, and follow-up with phone contacts.

At the risk of sounding like Debbie Downer, please take these comments on a popular news story in MSM with a grain of salt.

It could absolutely be something important...however:

It could also be someone seeking attention with false claims. Proceed with caution

I think it's a ghost story personally. At the beginning you have tons of people thinking their weird neighbor or relative did it. If this was the perp why did he call and tell someone exactly where he was, yet undertake a disguise? A motorcycle? probably not, you would have had a sighting of them. No unexplained tire tracks. This stuff has to be shared though as I think we all probably missed it until now.

Agreed.
The motorcycle idea is interesting.

Tracker, could a motorcyle's tracks have been completely accidently wiped by Kevin's car? I'm guessing not - plus a motorcycle would've probably made a memorable amount of noise, right?

“What’s sort of startling is its very similar to Jacob’s case in that the guy either wore a mask or had his face blacked out in every instance and he had the same general build – which was kind of shorter and stocky – and he had a deep, low voice which was also similar to Jacob’s situation.”, she says

Hm. Jacob's abductor was short and stocky?

That does not fit woth the description.

Agreed. That was a quote from Joy.

Agreed. That was a quote from Joy.

According to the 1987 Paynesville Press article Joy quotes, the police were looking for a suspect who was approximately 5'11", chunky, not fat.

I have mixed feelings about the comment. I think it could possibly be a good lead that definitely needs to be checked out. I'm not sure if DR is the perp, but his actions immediately after were definitely suspicious and strange, and to me it would make a lot of sense if he was covering for someone. Also it really struck me that if the uncle is the perp and he was involved in prostitution rings, it would make sense he would ask them their ages. On the other hand, there could also be another explanation for why someone would ask them....but I don't know what it would be. But some parts of her story don't make sense, like why he would call and tell them he was there. Also, I'd think it would be very hard to kidnap someone and drive off on a motorcycle so if it was him, I'd think a car would've been more likely, not a motorcycle.

She said she contacted missing children's lines but never mentioned contacting LE (I don't think missing children's lines count as LE? Not sure) or the FBI after she found out about Jacob's abduction. But she did mention the FBI had checked him out years before because they suspected he was involved in a prostitution ring but weren't able to nail him for it. If she is telling the truth about her story and explained this when she contacted the missing children's lines, I would hope this tip would have gotten passed on to LE. But like I said, I still think it's important for this tip to be checked out just in case.

Calls and tips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are forwarded to Stearns County.
