I noticed DR doesn't look very tall -- though he doesn't look stocky to me. I'm trying to imagine him having a split personality in which his ugly comes out and he's more aggressive and threatening. Though he comes across a bit like Casper Milktoast, appearances can be deceiving.

You know if "someone" said they saw a car there and a body was thrown into the lake -- I'd probably search that lake.

I really hope they did search the lake.

Mods... Why is "But Jacob did come from an intact loving family" allowed to remain posted but my comment regarding the same topic deleted?

When you allow misinformation to be presented as fact you lose credibility.
Are you speaking of the divorce? Or rumors?

That's ONE interview-albeit a good one.....but the best interview (IMO) unfortunately is not available anymore-KSTP TV.

I found that KSTP interview! links below of that full interview and some other interviews with DR. Plus many videos on Jacob's case.

Here is the full 13 minute interview from KSTP with DR:

I hope that LE took another look at this after Kevin came forward in 2003…

Paper: St. Paul Pioneer Press (MN)
Title: FBI KIDNAPPER PROFILE SUGGESTS WHITE LONER
Date: October 26, 1989

The hopes of investigators were momentarily raised Wednesday when police discovered an abandoned car in Ramsey County near Lake Owasso that they thought might have been used by the kidnapper.

However, investigators said they soon ruled out the red 1987 Mercury, in part because its tire tracks did not match plaster casts made of tracks at the scene of the abduction in St. Joseph.

The car was found by police at the south end of Lake Owasso after a Twin Cities television station said it had received a tip that a body had been tossed into the lake from a small red car.

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives

I'd be curious to what extent this was investigated in any case, and regardless of Kevin's tire tracks. To start, they'd want to know the source of the tip, and what information caused them to report it. You think that they'd check the lake, at least to some extent; and also, check out the origin of the abandon car. You mentioned in another post that, the car was only 3 yrs old, so, as you say, that in itself raises questions. Could have been a stolen car, used for the abduction, then abandoned. Also, this was only a few days after the abduction; but, it would have been evident right away the amount of attention that the case was getting. It wouldn't be unthinkable that if this vehicle was associated with the abduction, and it had traveled the dirt/gravel driveway, that if the abductor was going to abandon it, that the tires could have been changed, just to throw off, prolong the investigation; so, to me, if the tip was credible whatsoever, then, it should have been fully investigated. And, it's not matching the tire tracks in the driveway, Kevin's or not, shouldn't have been an automatic write-off. Not for an abandon car. Hard to say, to what extent, anything was investigated in this case. I know there are reports of a lot of investigation, agents going to Japan and everything, but, certain stuff makes you wonder. Having said that, if it wasn't fully investigated early on, then I also hope that they looked at it more seriously after they found out about Kevin.

Thanks Shergal.

His mannerisms are so strange sometimes, as well as the way he answers most questions. I can't tell if he's just an awkward person or if he's uncomfortable because he may reveal something and he doesn't know what to say.

Just because a red car that was spotted in the St. Joseph area was ruled out, does not mean all red cars, or any other cars, were ruled out. This particular car, by the lake, was said to be abandoned, which is odd considering it was only 3 years old. Also, the reason it was ruled out was because it's tire treads didn't match. If Kevin's story is true, then it would be expected the treads on the 1987 car wouldn't match, if Kevin had driven over them. Remember, at that time LE was looking for one car that was seen on the driveway.

I think with the intense LE effort, the car and situation would have been totally checked out. We are just seeing some tiny report. Who knows what went on behind the scenes.

Please remember that he is a teacher so he is on stage all day in front of students. He also performs with his music. He also teaches classes to children in after school programs.

He was some kind of coach and advisor to student groups.

In addition, he teaches at St. John's which costs $40,000 a year to attend.

If you google, you can see a course syllabus he has printed inline.

He is incredibly stern . I have posted this in the past on WS.

He also tells his students that if they miss class, they have ro make it up with him.

Nowadays, being alone with a student is taking a huge risk. And in his situation, even more so.

Strikes me as quite arrogant to ignore the pitfalls of meeting with students one on one. Strange

Something wolf-like in his ability to make locals feel he is too unmotivated to commit murder.

Unbelievable pile of information and video on the person of interest. No other suspect in 25 years has garnered this much public attention. He's not just standing behind a window that night, imo.

While I sit here trash talking DR all the time, theres one thing about Kevin or whoever tires tracks these are that left what appears to be a stopping imprint at the point of the footprints-

How was Kevin quickly cleared? Do the alibis check out with 100 percent certainty?

Random question of the day... has Jacob's story ever been featured on any true crime show? I've only seen it on the The Hunt. It seems like many cases get brought up over and over on various shows such as Dateline, 48 Hours, etc but I've seen or heard about Jacob's story on any other show which I find is a little surprising.

It's been on several shows. There's a movie that repeats often on HLN called "A Mother's Search" which is a re-enactment of the abduction. (I usually post when I get a notice that it's showing again.) Patty and Jerry were on a show with Geraldo, and one of the other shows, Current Affair, maybe? Some of them are on you tube. I don't have links handy at the moment, but they've been posted on here many times before.

ETA: There is also much information on the first page of every thread here. In post # 5 bessie has a list of videos also.

I found part 2 of DR's interview with Julie Nelson there.

It does look like a stopping print, or it could be afterwards when whoever made casts just tossed them all over the tire tracks. :gaah:

Thank you so much! I can't wait to check this out. Earlier I found a very brief clip from "A Current Affair" on YouTube and it got me thinking about how with all the true crime TV I've watched, it was weird I didn't even hear about this case until the 25th anniversary. I would love to see 48 Hours or Dateline do a one or two hour special on it sometime.

chaplain1, we risk getting thread closed if we get into anything that sounds like we're "sleuthing" victim's family.
