Jared spoke about his desire to confront DAH in Moose Lake on the podcast. Given the escalation of Joy's media activity, I think it is possible this will be some sort of media event. In Mea Maxima Culpa, the victims confront the priest at the end of the documentary.

Did others get the sense that the podcasts will be on-going?

I have to disagree with this a little. Others in the parish may be upset by seeing someone rock the boat and your idea of those in power at a school or college possibly holding a grudge after seeing a friend/colleague sent to jail is very very possible, but something official like excommunication isn't going to happen. That stuff is on TV only.

If you can show someone who has been excommunicated for cooperating with police, I'm all ears.

Not the act itself, the illusion to or threat of to someone devout and or of good standing in the community would be unnerving... I did note "in the extreme" since the probability would be low.

Perhaps a better illustration would have been the refusal to annul a marriage after a divorce so the individual could be remarried within the church.

There would possibly be some priests that did not honor the seal of confession, but performing a gay marriage or a Bishop ordaining a female priest would be the most likely excommunications. As a lifelong Catholic, no one I know has ever been fearful of excommunication.

How would a priest handle the confession of a person in a position of authority who confessed to being a child molester? It rises above the lever of 1000 Hail Mary's and Acts of Contrition.

And I am asking this question as one who was thrown out of religion 101 and almost out of Catholic High School (that I was working at night to pay the tuition for) for asking where Cain and Able's wives came from.... The parish Priest had a long conversation with my parents... ;)

Um, no.

Do the victims get release?

As a teacher, I saw students who to this day years later are traumatized, some to continue to be victimizers themselves.

The monsters give a life sentence to their victims.

When someone drinks and drives, which is not OK, and they hit a tree and become paralyzed, there is no do over. When a sex offender chooses to molest, too bad. There should be no do over .

And I do not care what other states do. Other states have horrible education systems, for instance. Should we start emulating that , too?

Reference the ongoing problem in Alabama where the federal court just ruled that gay marriage should be recognized. AL's chief justice said not to recognize the federal decision. Is that what should take place in MN? Or, how about George Wallace refusing integration? Federal cases determine outcome, or we would still have segregation.

MN is losing this case big time, and the state needs to have a better plan. Not everyone can be rehabilitated, but, yes, some can be, as determined by the federal panel.

Annnnd there is the BCA, Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the FBI. Too many people so that there would not be whistleblowers.

Who cares about rehabilitation. Not me. Why do they get rights? Comparing it to integration or gay marriage is unreal. These people have committed the most heinous of crimes.

I had a student once, a SIX year old who was molested by mom's Boyfriend. It was discovered at the doctor's office because she hurt inside. She was hospitalized after her attempted SUICIDE at age six. She said that the BF told her if she ever told, he would kill her. She said that she would rather kill herself than to be killed by him. I told her that she did not have to worry because he was in jail.

She said, "Yes, for one year." I did not cry right there.

I had her child years later when she became a mother. Her life was a mess.

It makes me sick . The sentence these molesters put onto their victims.

I am sure all of us know adults in our lives who are still trying to recover.

Grrrrr, is all I can say. Let the panel have those sweeties live with them.

If the priest learned about the abuse in the act of contrition, he could not say anything. However, he would be expected to push the sinner hard toward societal punishment (same with murder) and would not have to absolve the sin. This has never really been a big problem. Incest is the biggest problem here, because incestuous mothers and father's are often very scrupulous.

The bigger problem is when they find out about abuse in daily life and do nothing about it, or cover it up.

Fukiyama did some research. The priest has to absolve regardless of the intention of the sinner to go to the police. Nonetheless, it is pushed that the societal punishment is very important. That has changed. Old priests will often speak of one or two interesting confessions in their career.

they can think what they want. No one can absolve anyone of their sins. One day they will face God. Good luck with that

Daniel Rassier- tagged person of interest, not cleared
Matthew Feeney-named suspect, cleared
Kevin- cleared, not named

What do we know? What can we prove? What needs to happen from here?

I think everything will be focused on DAH for a while. He did have another sex abuse incident four days later 10/26

What happened there? Was he disguised and using a gun?

If DAH did not disguise himself and let that victim go it doesnt make sense he would abduct and kill Jacob four days earlier having been under disguise.

"Dr. Hoberman testified that DAH lacks the ability to control his sexual impulses, fixates on young males, experiences intense urges to sexually offend despite a victim's protests or resistance, and has profound difficulty controlling his behavior."

What if Jacob resisted... Possibly the intent was to let him go, similar to what happened with Jared (if DAH was in fact the perp in both attacks).

But the situation got out of control when Jacob fought back and DAH became enraged to the point of no control, and the unthinkable happened.

Most of DAH's victims were groomed, and terrified of him, so little to no resistance.

Jacob strikes me as the type of kid that might have physically resisted.

To me, why would DAH change his MO to assault Jared and Jacob when he admits to 40-50 kids? Jared put his number between 300-400. Why dress up with a gun on one occasion and kill a kid only to go back to your old pattern 4 days later?

Possibly drinking, on drugs, or both.

Just got done listening to Joys podcast with Jared, for the 2nd time.

Jared sounds very sure that DAH was his abductor.

I am so glad that Joy keeps chipping away with different leads, keeping Jacobs abduction in the public eye.

Back to the Case....1 Big Thing Joy answered for me was a picture of DAH-I could NEVER find a picture of him. In his mugshot, it is clearly seen that he doesn't top 5'-6" in height.....I have no idea what footwear he has on....but one could assume at least 1" heels and if in boots then at least 1 1/2".....that means DAH in bare feet is 5'5" or 5'4 1/2". That's short compared to the description of Jacob's abductor as per Trevor comparing to Merle(5'10"). 5'6" to 5'10" is a leap visually. The boys said the perp was wearing boots so that being said...the height difference would remain the same: boots or barefoot.
