Well I told my wife and she is concerned that DR has apparrently never been in a relationship his entire life. I dont think anyone knows a thing about his sexual preferences, which everyone has.

There are asexual persons. In fact, there are bachelor farmers who have never been in a relationship. I know one personally - still lives with his mother.

I didn't find out this was absolutely a sexuallly motivated crime until less than 24 hours ago. I think the community deserves to know as well.

What other motivations would be considered? There doesn't appear to me that there would be any others in this case?

Does anyone recall the article about human remains found in Wisconsin (?) of a boy, estimated age was like 10-13 or so, and they determined that he would have lived in MN/Wisconsin/MI..? Did they ever figure out who that was? I will try to find the article.

I can't find the article! I swear I'm not making this up. They were able to tell by the bones that he had lived in the upper midwest due to minerals, etc but they couldn't identify him. They were going to test the remains against known missing boys.

Wow, that is creepy. How could they rule it out based on foot prints? Maybe the size of the foot compared to Jacobs?

What other motivations would be considered? There doesn't appear to me that there would be any others in this case?

If this new info is correct, then I think it can conclusively be termed sexually motivated.

My only other thought was some sort of replacement son for a very sheltered group of people. Also, he could have been simply killed if the motive was revenge against his family.

I am aware that it is customary for Law Enforcement to notify a school district if one of its employees is arrested or, in cases where no arrest is made, that information is available that may raise an issue as to the suitability of that employee to work with,children. This comes up frequently in drug investigations and, in the past, when the issue of homosexuality was raised.

Certainly, if a teacher were suspected of abducting and murdering a child, law enforcement would release to the school district enough of what evidence they had so that the district could deal with the situation fully informed. While there might not be sufficient evidence to terminate the teacher, there are other ways to deal with a potential problem. If such action were being undertaken by the district, DR's work life would be very unpleasant and the media would easily get wind of it.

To my knowledge, except for requiring a second adult in his class room for a few days (I don't know how long this lasted), DR has pretty much gone back to business as usual an he claims to have the support of his students, parents, fellow teachers and administrators. Is this impression accurate?

That would be the day they would get away with it . Civil rights and all of that.

Has anyone ever researched this case? Charles Arlin Henderson. Similar age and appearance to Jacob, and the boy also disappeared from a rural area while on his bike.
His bike was found 3 months later in a bean field. And the police do have a set of fingerprints from the bike. It's amazing that whomever the perp is has never been arrested and fingerprinted and had a hit on those prints.

I've read a little bit about it. Whenever there are cases with similar circumstances and time frames (within a few years of each other) it always makes wonder if there's any possibility of a connection.

I think originally this info was kept quiet because LE planned to use it when and if they ever made an actual arrest. But with Mikelson spilling it online, and Patty stating it was sexually motivated, it seems it is pretty much out there now. Still, a lot of locals aren't aware. I'm not sure if Wetterlings or LE want it to be common knowledge. Maybe it just upsets Wetterlings having that known? IMO, it pretty much clears DR, because I just can't imagine him doing that to young boys. But I guess I could be wrong. I think he's just an odd guy who seems to enjoy the attention this case has brought him, even though it's negative attention. If he hadn't acted so odd and giggly in all his TV interviews, and made so many statements about "knowing" who did it, I don't think we'd even be looking at him. (JMO) As I've stated before, he's his own worst enemy.

He is named POI by LE after spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a search. Money sent at a time when MN was in desperate financial straits.

If LE had never named him, who would even be thinking about him out here in cyber land.

When I went to a retired teacher get together, I was astounded at things I found out.

Unless you are with someone 24/7 you have no idea.

I had a friend come and stay with us for three months. I live in a wonderful place. I have known her for forty years .

The first time my hubby caught her peeking in our bedroom, he was not sure.

The second time, he set her up.

To say I was shocked is an understatement.

Well, for that matter, while the boys were in the store, someone could have seen them and driven right up 19th ahead of them, before they came back out of the store. So certainly, either way could have happened. Or someone could have had a car parked on one of those dirt roads in the woods and been watching for them to come back. Or someone could have been standing on the road or in a ditch waiting for them to come back. Those are all possibilities. I don't discount a car being used.

Apparently the perp brought Jacob up the R driveway. Why would he do that if he had a car parked in a different location?

And what was that Baker street like then? Driveable?

LE has cleared MF twice. But I still have my eye on him also. He could have told someone else to grab Jacob while he was standing with people who would give him an alibi. (JMO)

Jacob could have broken away from the perp and run up the driveway and then been grabbed again, leaving that lone footprint. We just don't know.

Skeletal remains (probably 2 years old or more) found in Southern Minnesota, near Albert Lea. While probably too new to be related to Jacob's case, maybe someone on here knows of other missing males in MN? There is a ring to identify.

Are both stories here true? I can understand Kevin had nothing to hide and drove in and turned around inside the building site, but what about Dans testimony? Did the abductors vehicle turn around in the building site like that before or after the abduction? In either of those scenarios, you may as well drop the disguise on the lawn because DR saw him.

The shoes were hard shoes, originally made in Brazil. Also, the ring appears to not be a class ring but more of a decorative ring.
